Neelakshee Dutta, a student of UG 4, Section A (SOBAS), participated in the Inter-University Fashion Show Competition CONCORDIA 3.0, organized by Swami Vivekananda University. She secured 1st position among 10 competing universities on 12.03.2026, representing the theme of mythology.

She also participated in the autonomous fashion show competition Poila Parbon 2026, where she secured 1st position among 10 teams on 15.03.2026, representing the theme of Bengaliyana.

Post Graduate Forensic Science students - Sagnik Nandy, Aatreyi Chakraborty,Adrita Mukherjee, Arnasree Ghosh, Dr. Satwik Chatterjee of semester 1 had attended the " *55th Annual Conference of the Indian Anthropological society and International Seminar on Praxis of Anthropology in human development* " from 27th to 29th November, 2025 at The esteemed Visva-Bharati university, Bolpur , Shantiniketan ( an institute of national importance)

The students presented their dissertation research papers under the panel " Embodied evidence : Forensic Anthropology in the Service of Humanity"

at this conference and received valuable insights on various aspects related to human Anthropology and development.

-The Anthropology of women , children and indigenous communities, sustainability beyond development and the application of anthropological and archaeological approaches to human development issues

Miss adrita Mukherjee PG first semester student of the department of Forensic Science got awarded with the best oral presentation award and she was felicitated by the Honourable Director of the Anthropological Survey of India , ministry of culture, Govt of India , Prof. V B sharma sir and the ceremony was cherished by leading anthropologist and researchers across the country and international participants .

*Bridging Classroom Learning with Real-World Wildlife Forensics!*

Our M.Sc. Forensic Science students completed an enriching educational trip to the Zoological Survey of India (ZSI). A huge thanks to Dr. Mukesh Thakur, Scientist at ZSI, for his inspiring guidance—and gratitude to our Dean, SOBAS, and everyone involved for making this visit possible.

Under the coordination of our Assistant Professors Ms. Akshita and Ms. K.M. Shruti, students explored key aspects of Wildlife Forensics, including:

🧪 Sample Collection, Preservation & chain of custody of Wildlife Evidences
🔍 Species Identification using morphology & DNA barcoding
🐾 Analysis of poaching cases & illegal Wildlife trade
⚖️ Legal investigation and admissible forensic evidence

Happy to share that our M.Sc. Forensic Science program successfully concluded their educational visit to the prestigious Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL), Kolkata.

This immersive exposure brilliantly bridged classroom learning with hands-on forensic practice. Our budding experts witnessed:
🔹 The meticulous case flow and documentation process – from exhibit receipt to dispatch.
🔹 The critical *chain of custody* procedures that uphold forensic integrity.
🔹 Real-time demonstrations of analytical instruments and specialized protocols.
🔹 Valuable insights into forensic reporting and the role of *expert testimony* in justice delivery.
