Ethiopia takes on another mega project. With designs and plans all in place, phase one comprised of ground works and construction of four runways of a $10 billion Bishoftu International Airport (BIA) in Ethiopia which is expected to be completed in 2030 may kick off in March 2026. AfD is committing directly $500m in this project and promised to mobilise additional $8 billion from their partners.
