Ima Robot Unofficial

Fan-curated preservation project for everything related to Ima Robot.
Established and maintained with ❤️ by Ben B.

Ima Robot tells the story of a few passionate guys in LA crushing a larger-than-life presence of hip-hop beats and grungy guitars through clubs and local venues. After signing with Virgin, their sound underwent various changes as they faced 'radio-friendly' industry pressure. Despite this, they persisted, covertly producing hundreds of now-lost tracks. This channel aims to foster a new home for preserving this lesser-known talent, from outdated mediums, defunct sources, and private collections.

All content on this channel belongs to everyone involved with the production of the original works. This channel is NOT in any way affiliated directly with Ima Robot, Alex Ebert, Tim Anderson, Filip Nikolic, Community Music, Werewolf Heart, nor any other associated names, IP owners, musicians, publishers, and managers.

Ima Robot Unofficial

We've done some remodeling to our homepage, check it out! There are now playlists dividing the several different eras of Ima Robot and the songs within. Hopefully this should create a clearer divide between the different time periods and the types of music being produced during each.

Additionally, a reissue of Search & Destroy and vinyl pressing through Good Neighbor has been announced! There are two new songs (Better Than Knife and Winter Fling) in place of Good Girl and Two Hearts Too Young. The record will be out November 14 under Community Music.

Preorder the record here:

Alex has dropped a new solo track, a demo revitalized from 2012 featuring Mark Noseworthy!

This is from after the album Alexander released and would have been some time around Here.

The song is also available on DSPs: stem.ffm.to/celia

Good Girl, the first single off of a potentially soon-to-be revealed Search & Destroy reissue, has been released as of last month!

The song is also now available on all DSP's.

Perhaps soon we will catch wind of the rest of the record's reissue, and hopefully a vinyl pressing through Good Neighbor?! We can only speculate, and dream. 👀

Subsequently, our upload of Good Girl has been pulled in favor of the higher quality master from the source, if you are looking for it.

From the Ima Robot newsletter, which you can sign up for at imarobot.com/:

"The greatness of Ima Robot has been our own private secret. A secret very few know - those early-days fans, those house party shows, those cassettes, those hand-drawn cd's, those shows at the mint, the joint, the opium den, the viper room, the dragonfly. A greatness of hits and misses, of ungrounded playfulness, of unhinged mutation.

The release of Another Man's Treasure, then, as with the unearthed Ima Robot albums to follow, hopes to share some of that secret with the world. Whether our prolific early years (1998-2004) or our post-major label years (2008-2011), I'm looking forward to more properly sharing the Ima Robot Legacy." -Alex Ebert

As such, as the group announces an official outlet for the bootlegged tracks that we have uploaded in the past, we will pull our uploads of those songs.

Never thought the day would come where I could say that. Welcome back, Ima Robot 🤖
