👗 Seasonal SEO Hack: Change Your Primary Category with the Season

Here’s a smart move most businesses don’t take advantage of:

👉 Switch your Google Business Profile’s primary category to match the season.

Let’s say you run a landscaping company:

☀️ In the summer, set your primary category to “Lawn care service”
🍂 In the fall/winter, switch it to “Snow removal service” (if applicable)

Google treats your primary category as one of the strongest ranking signals.
If you’re promoting lawn care in January or snow removal in July, you're sending mixed signals — and that can hurt your visibility in local searches.

But here's the part most business owners completely overlook:

👉 Your website link on your Google listing should also point to the matching service page.

If your Google Business Profile is set to “Snow removal service,” but your link points to your homepage or a generic lawn care page — you're missing an opportunity to reinforce relevance.

✅ Example:

Summer category: Lawn Care Service → link to: yourwebsite.com/lawn-care

Winter category: Snow Removal Service → link to: yourwebsite.com/snow-removal

This combo helps Google fully understand what your business offers right now — and match you with people searching for it in the moment.

🛠️ I check for this kind of category + URL alignment in every single 1-on-1 audit I do — and it’s one of the easiest, most impactful local SEO fixes you can make.

🔍 Want More Visibility on Google Maps? Do This 👇

One of the easiest wins in local SEO is also one of the most overlooked:

✅ Adding Suggested Services to your Google Business Profile

And no — this doesn’t just apply to your primary category.
It also works for your secondary categories — and Google uses them to understand what you do and show your listing for more searches.

📸 Just follow the steps in the images above:

1️⃣ Click “Edit services” from your GBP dashboard
2️⃣ Review the Suggested Services for each category
3️⃣ Click the + to add the ones you offer
4️⃣ Use “Add custom service” if something specific isn’t listed

Why this matters:
📈 These services act like built-in keywords
🎯 They help you appear for more relevant local searches
💪 They show Google (and potential customers) exactly what you offer

I check this in every single audit I do — and most businesses either miss it, or leave it half-done.

🛠️ If you’re unsure whether your GBP is fully optimized, I can help.

💥 Your Homepage Might Be Missing This SEO Power Move

I see this all the time during audits 👇
❌ No H1 tag at all
❌ Or a weak H1 like just the business name

➡️ Both are killing your local rankings

✅ What it should be: Your main service + city

📸 Just look at the examples in the images 👆
In the “bad” versions:

➡️There’s no H1 at all

➡️Or it says nothing about what the business actually does.

In the “good” examples:

✅ Electrician Santa Rosa
✅ Professional Electrician Santa Rosa, CA

These simple H1s tell Google exactly what you do and where — which helps your website rank locally for relevant searches.

💡 It’s one of the quickest SEO wins, and yet so many businesses miss it!

📍Stop Embedding the Wrong Map on Your Website!

This is one of the most common mistakes I find when auditing local business websites 👇

❌ A generic, third-party map on the contact or home page that has nothing to do with your actual Google Business Profile.

Why is that a problem?
When visitors land on your site and check the map:

🚫 They can’t see your Google reviews
🚫 They can’t click for directions
🚫 They can’t access your full Google listing
🚫 Google gets zero local SEO signals from it

Here's the fix 👇
✅ Embed the map directly from your Google Business Profile

🖼️ (Check the step-by-step images)

How to do it:

1. Go to your Google listing

2. Click Share

3. Choose Embed a map

4. Copy the HTML code

5. Paste it onto your contact or home page

Takes less than 2 minutes, and it’s a simple way to boost both user experience and your local SEO performance.

🛠️ I help clients uncover and fix things like this in my 1-on-1 live sessions.

🚫 Is Your Google Business Profile Being Filtered Without You Knowing?

If your business is based in a co-working space, and you're sharing an address with others in the same industry, you could be facing a major visibility problem on Google Maps — and not even realize it. 😬

📍Just look at the first image 👇
It shows a classic scenario:

✅ Same address
✅ Same primary category (e.g. Criminal Justice Attorney)
✅ Different suite numbers

Here’s the issue: Google filters out duplicate results in the local pack to avoid showing multiple businesses doing the same thing at the same location. It prefers variety — not repetition.

🔎 I ran a ranking scan for a listing listing just like that two days ago during a client audit, and guess what? Almost the entire map came back with “20+” rankings — meaning the business was completely invisible.

👉 If your listing is based in a shared workspace and you’re struggling to show up, this could be exactly what’s happening.

🛠️ I help clients uncover and fix these kinds of issues in my 1-on-1 live sessions. If you think this might be affecting your listing, book a session here bit.ly/4cOIFnX or drop a comment and I’ll point you in the right direction.

🕒 OPEN vs CLOSED = BIG Ranking Difference!

I ran an audit yesterday for a cleaning business client targeting “home cleaning near me” and here’s what I discovered 👇

🟢 First scan: When the business was OPEN
🔴 Second scan: When the business was CLOSED

📸 See the images? The difference in rankings is MASSIVE!

When the business was open, it ranked in the top 3 across a large portion of the local area.

When I ran the same scan the next morning while the business was closed, rankings dropped off the map — literally.

Why this matters:
Google favors businesses that are open at the time of the search because it wants to show users options they can act on immediately.

✅ So if your Google Business Profile shows the wrong hours, or you're marked as “Closed” when you're actually open... you're losing visibility and potential customers.

🛠️ This is one of the first things I look for when running a local SEO audit — if you want help diagnosing what might be holding your listing back, feel free to reach out for a 1-on-1 session.

🔧 Title Tag Trick for Local SEO + Example Breakdown 👇

If you want to boost your visibility in local search, here’s a super simple title tag format I use all the time:

🔹 [Primary Keyword] – [City] | [Business Name]

This helps Google understand exactly what your page is about and where you’re located.

The template gives you the structure

If you're lazy you can use the basic version as it does the job (e.g. Dental Implant – Tampa | Harborview Dental Care)

But I alwasy advise using an enhanced version to adds clickability and trust (e.g. Top Dental Implants in Tampa – Trusted by Locals | Harborview Dental Care)

💥 Small tweaks like this can improve both your rankings and your click-through rate.

💥 LOCAL SEO MYTH BUSTING TIME!

Here’s one local SEO myth I used to believe:
“If you geotag images and upload them to your Google Business Profile, it will help you rank higher on Google Maps.”
😅 Spoiler: it doesn’t. Google strips out metadata from images when they’re uploaded, so geotags don’t actually help your rankings at all. So don't waste your time and focus on what matters.
