I break down movies through a filmmaker’s lens - analyzing cinematography, storytelling, direction, and the creative choices that make films work (or fail).

This channel isn’t about surface-level reviews. It’s about how films are made, why certain choices are effective, and what filmmakers can learn from them.

Expect film breakdowns, scene analysis, and occasional filmmaking lessons inspired directly by movies.

I have a film currently in competition at the ‪@mcrfilmfestival‬ called 'The Horned Woman of Saughall'. So i'll be returning with “I Took My Film to a Festival… Here’s What Actually Happened” at 7pm Sunday 29th March.

See you then.

Movie Talk Livestream Update:

Hey my lovely folks, I was due to go live for the first time tonight, instead the Movie Talk live-streamed show will debut in the next couple of weeks instead.

I wanted to fully realise the show and it’s not in my nature to produce something half-baked.

My next video will be out after this weekend, due to production commitments and one of my films being in competition at the Manchester Film Festival.

Have a fantastic day.

NEW FILM

Hey everyone,

As part of my regular film work, I produce showreel scenes for actors and the newest one, ‘A Moment Too Late’ is coming out this coming week.

Keep an eye out if you’re interested in this sort of thing and I’ll be breaking down the projection soon after also.

Good morning from the UK!

I wanted to say my sincerest thank you, to you, my subscribers. Some of you have been here since the beginning and I am extremely grateful.

And to all my most recent and lovely new people too, I am so happy you are here.

The video ‘No Blood’ has had a great response and I am trying my very best to keep my Sunday Essays regular for the foreseeable.

My insights into Marty Supreme (Best Picture Nominee) are coming out tomorrow and then there are only two more films to review for that series (Sentimental Value and Train Dreams).

I’m an open minded filmmaker and video maker, so any suggestions you might like to see for a Sunday Essay, just drop me a message.

Kind Regards,

Alex

ps if you ever hear barking in any of my videos, it’s Frida (picture included).

Hey everyone,

Firstly I’m hoping you’re having a relaxing Sunday.

New Video
As part of my YouTube channel, I’m delving into what movies/films work through my eye as a filmmaker. This first Sunday Essay series had to start here, the works of Christopher Nolan and something I’ve spotted.

Would love to hear your thoughts on the subject.

Hello my Friends,

I am finally finding my feet with my channel and getting out of my own way. Over the next month or two you’ll see some tweaks, a new lick of paint here and there, and a more focus lens of movie breakdowns through my filmmaking filter.

This Friday sees the 6th out of 10 series about all of the Best Picture nominees for this year’s Oscar’s. This week the nominee highlighted is ‘The Secret Agent’ starring the talented Wagner Moura.

After that is wrapped up with the 10th and final film, there will be some exciting new insights from me and I cannot wait to share all of this with you. Thank you so much for being on this ride with me.
