This is what Conversion Therapy looks like. I ran from the church and took my queer teen child with me when the bishop recommended therapy that would uphold church standards and affirm correct behavior: Conversion Therapy.
I recently traveled to Washington, DC, to tell SCOTUS to protect children from conversion torture. The founder of the Conversion Therapy Survivor Network spells out the harm of overturning bans, in this interview.
Iām focusing on love. Thatās how Iām coping with it all. Yesterday I was called mentally ill for being gay. The day before that I was called āone of the good onesā because I donāt appear to be a groomer. Last week my author event at a library was compared to a drag queen story hour.
Iām breathing. Iām resting. Iām centering my thoughts, words, and deeds on loving energy.
Sending love to you, too. š

Living Out and Proud as a lesbian is not actually my entire personality, but being a Mormon was, until I was nearly 50 years old.
