Welcome to My Wild Holm! Ryan and Melodi here, and guess what? In the Spring of 2022, we bought a 62 acre island on a lake in the wilderness of Canada and we're building our own homestead!
Follow every step of our build as we turn our wilderness island into the off grid property of our dreams!
Things have definitely changed over the past couple of years. It's made us realize that life can 'take a turn' pretty quickly. It also made us want to build our own off grid self-sustainable life in the beautiful Canadian wilderness. Of course we know that it won't be without its challenges but that's never stopped us before!

Uh oh... we were just sent these pictures this morning. The water at the island is the highest it's been in 7 years and apparently it's not finished šØ. We are packing up to leave and there is still much to do. We are so SORRY to say we will have to postpone tonight's livestream visit with you all. We have much ahead this season!! Stay tuned! We had the chance to meet another member of the Bird family ā the original owners of Bird Island. That connection to the pastā¦ itās hard to describe, but it means a lot to us.
