There's a conversation you've been avoiding.

You've rehearsed it in the shower. You've drafted it in your head on the drive to work. And you've swallowed it at the dinner table three nights in a row.

Maybe it's an apology you owe. A boundary you need to draw. A truth someone you love doesn't want to hear.

Here's the hard part: avoiding it hasn't made it smaller. Hard conversations are like dishes in the sink. They don't wash themselves, and they don't smell better with time.

Scripture doesn't tell us how to WIN a conversation. It tells us how to carry one:

"Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt." (Colossians 4:6)

Grace first. Salt second. Grace means you go in wanting good for the other person, not just relief for yourself. Salt means you still say the true thing.

Most of us pick one. All grace and no honesty, or all honesty and no grace. God asks for both in the same sentence.
