The mental health field has done a terrible job of providing practical information to people.

This frustrates me immensely. There absolutely are scientific, practical mental health tools that can and do change lives, and so few people are teaching them.

This channel is for us: those whose needs run deeper; those of us living on the Isle of Misfits Toys.

My goal for this channel is to create the highest quality information about depression and anxiety for the people who need it most; those who are living with it every day.

My name is Dr. Scott. I'm a licensed clinical psychologist, podcast host, and the author of the book "For When Everything Is Burning." I specialize in treating moderate to severe mood and anxiety disorders because I've lived them for decades.

Disclaimer: This content is not intended to be a replacement for receiving treatment. It is purely educational in nature. My relationship with you is that of presenter and audience, not therapist and client. But I do care.

Do any of you know a good therapist in New York? Maybe someone with an approach somewhat similar to mine? Asking for a friend!

Quick update:

My new book, The Light Between the Leaves, is officially available for pre-order!

Writing it took me into some pretty dark places — but also back out of them.

I know, the world doesn’t need another self-help book.

But this isn’t one.

This is for the people who did the “right things” — therapy, meds, mindfulness — and still feel stuck.

It’s honest, a little uncomfortable, and (I hope) deeply validating.

If you’ve been here on this channel a while, you already know what I mean when I say: this is for us.

Pre-orders are open now — it would mean the world if you grabbed a copy or shared the link with someone who needs it. bit.ly/TheLightBookYT

Thanks for being in this weird, hopeful corner of the internet with me.

- Dr. Scott

PS — I’d love to know what kind of topics you want me to cover next here. I’m listening.

My plan is to continue producing content at this rate, so I’ll have videos for you on Friday’s as well going forward 😁Hope you enjoy them!

Recently I did something I haven't done in a while; be a guest on someone else's show!

Forrest Hanson was kind enough to interview me for the Being Well podcast. You can see the video here or listen to the podcast on your platform of choice:

You've heard me talk about how caffeine can worsen symptoms of anxiety and depression. You know I'm a big believer in limiting (or removing) the things in your life that make managing your mental health more difficult - caffeine is one of them.

I also know having some kind of energy booster is very helpful. About a year ago I started using Magic Mind (‪@magicmindco‬) - for energy and focus without the anxiety spike.

Made with green tea, herbs and mushrooms, it delivers similar concentration benefits to caffeine without the jitters. This mental performance shot gives me the energy I need with only 55mg of organic caffeine (keeping me well under that 400mg daily threshold). Plus, it tastes incredible.

If you're struggling with energy, focus or the side effects of too much caffeine (jitters, crash, poor sleep), use the link below to get my deal.

At magicmind.com/SCOTT20
SCOTT20 gets you up to 48% off your first subscription for the next 10 days.

This is a paid promotion; I love this product and use it daily.
