hey friends, i haven’t uploaded for a while and saw you guys leaving the sweetest comments on my earlier videos so just wanted to come on here and say hi:) i’ve missed you!!

i’ve been home in china lately, taking a break from traveling. but, i am editing some vlogs from my journey in europe at the end of last year and will be posting them very very soon✨

a bit (month) late but I turned 30🎂

I’ve been experiencing this odd sense of, relief? And reassurance? That despite how lost and and stuck and behind I felt throughout my 20s, everything turned out to be okay…wow, I wish I had known this.

hi friends✨ realized I haven’t given you a life update for a while oops…so here’s my summer so far:

1. I was in Thailand🇹🇭 for a month in June (some of you guessed in the comments!!) Sorry for not posting about it. I had the most magical, crazy, heartwarming experience running into one of you in the streets of Chiang Mai…vlogs to come. Can’t wait to tell you all about the trip!

2. I’m currently back in my hometown Shenyang. I’ve always struggled to find a sense of belonging here because I spent all my life trying to run away for it but…why does it feel like home now🥺

3. I’ve been working from a bookstore every day. Air con + iced oat latte beats the heat🍃

4. There’s been a lot of rainy + gloomy days lately. I guess it’s monsoon season? Is that even a thing in northeastern China? But hey, my baby’s here to brighten up my day🐈‍⬛

we hit 50K this week!!!!!✨

wow…that’s wild. thank you for being here, rooting for me, and supporting each other in our little community🫶

this world is so big. we come from different backgrounds, with wildly different life experiences, and the fact that we are all here means we were all touched by some similar feelings, or struggles, at some point.

it’s crazy to have felt like a misfit all my life and find 50K people who can relate.

if anything, we are definitely not alone…

hello friends✨sharing snippets of my life here b/c i realized not all of you use Instagram and I want to keep you posted about my life:)

And here’s a big update: I just left Guangzhou!

During the past 4 years, some of my consultant friends made manager; tech friends bought their second homes; college friends got married, had kids.

Everyone seems to be moving up and up, their lives figured out. And here I am, back at my parents’, having murdered my tech career, editing the same type of “aesthetic lifestyle” content consumed mainly by college students, even though I’m turning 30 in less than 3 months.

But for the first time in my life, I feel okay exactly where I am. I see the person I am today, and I’m even a little proud of how much she’s grown over the past 4 years. I’m so grateful to you for being on the journey with me.

So here’s a reminder, if you happen to need one: progress is not measured just by promotions and raises. Please remember to celebrate your growth even though it’s so hard to see it w/o the numbers. You deserve to give yourself credit for how far you’ve come🫶🤍💫

Happy 2024✨🎉🍾️🫶🎊

Thank you guys so much for all the love on my last video. I just went through all the comments. And my heart is so full❤️

I spent Christmas in Japan, but there will not be a Japan vlog b/c I needed to take some time for myself. But, I did take some pictures for you - Japan is such a lovely place, and I would love to go back (and take you guys along next time!) 🎏🍙🥺

Over the past few days I’ve been reflecting on how I’ve been unkind to myself, holding myself up to unrealistic standards and putting pressure on myself to always be productive. And you guys reminded me, that we don’t have to live like that.

In 2024, my goal is to learn self compassion, and to live by what I love, courageously. I want to travel in Asia and Europe. I want to live without self-imposed limits about what I should be doing at this stage of my life. I’m turning 30 this year. 30 is not too late to prioritize being happy:)

Oh, and keep on reading. I’m currently reading The Courage to Be Disliked by Ichiro Kishimi and Funitake Koga.

Thank you so much for being here and lifting me up in 2023. I’m so excited to share 2024 with you✨
