Stories of London’s streets, history, transport, and hidden corners — with occasional explorations beyond the city.

Hello everyone,

Hope you're all keeping well.

This is just a quick note to let you know that my next video- 'Why Does London Have a Church for Clowns?'- will be available to watch from tomorrow (Friday 6th February) at 4.45pm UK time.

The video largely explores the life of Joseph Grimaldi, although there will of course be plenty of footage of one of London's most unique religious events: the annual Clowns' Service...

In the meantime, here's the thumbnail to get you in the mood!

Take care and I'll see you soon in the comments!

Hello everyone,

Hope you're all keeping well.

I was lucky enough today to attend one of London's most unique religious events- the annual Clown Service! Today was its 80th anniversary.

The Clown Service commemorates the greatest clown of all, Joseph Grimaldi... and in the next video we'll be looking at the history of his (often tragic) life, along with the Clown Service itself.

You shouldn't have to wait too long for the video- stay tuned to the Community Tab for further updates!

In the meantime, stay well and I'll see you all soon,

Hello everyone,

Hope you're all keeping well.

This is just a quick note to let you know that my next video- all about the BT/Post Office/GPO/Telecom Tower (the name you're familiar with probably depends on how old you are I guess!)- will be ready to view from Thursday 22nd January at 4.45pm.

I've always been very fond of this 1960s structure, so the video is going to be quite a deep dive, looking at its predecessor, how the tower was built, what it was like to visit in its heyday, the revolving restaurant, television and film appearances and more (including of course its secret Cold War role...)

In the meantime, thanks so much for your patience.

Take care and I'll see you soon,

Rob

Hello everyone,

Hope you all had a good Christmas and New Year!

I'm now working on my next video which is going to be a history of the BT Tower (as it's now known, of course... although it has also been called the GPO Tower, the Post Office Tower, the Telecom Tower and, as we'll find out, a few more names too...)

This hair-raising image of a crane operator named Jimmy Wheelan was taken 635 ft above the streets of London in 1964, during the tower's construction- you clearly needed a head for heights if you were employed on this building site!

I'll keep you updated about my progress here in the community tab, but for now stay well and I'll see you soon.

Hello everyone,

I hope you're all keeping well.

I just wanted to take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy Christmas and to thank you all for the kind words and support you've given me throughout the year.

I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful community of viewers. Without you, there would be no channel.

I will be back in the New Year with more videos, although as I've mentioned before, the schedule may be somewhat disrupted due to a serious illness in my family.

So if you don't see me for a few weeks, don't worry! I'm always working on the channel and I'll post updates here in the community tab, so please do stay tuned.

The image shown here by the way depicts Christmas shopping in London in December 1920. It originally appeared in 'The Sphere' magazine.

Once again, merry Christmas! Stay well and best of luck for the New Year. I'll see you soon.

Hello everyone,

Hope you're all keeping well.

Firstly, I would just like to say a huge thank you to all of you for helping me reach 90,000 subscribers.

I can't express enough how much your support means to me- such numbers simply could not be achieved without you. So again: thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

Secondly, I would like to apologise for my absence lately.

If you've read previous posts, you'll be aware that a close member of my family is currently fighting a serious illness. As you may imagine, this has had some impact on my day-to-day life.

Don't worry, I'm still making videos (this channel is now my livelihood) but their scheduling over the next few months is going to be somewhat haphazard still. I will post updates here in the community tab.

Many thanks for your patience :-)

My next video- 'Cambridge's Hidden History & Curious Secrets'- is almost ready.... here's the title card to get you in the mood.

It will be available to watch from 5.45pm UK time on Wednesday 17th December.

Hopefully you're in for a treat- Cambridge is a stunningly beautiful city and there are some real curiosities to be discovered there!

So, in the meantime, thanks again friends. Stay well and I'll see you soon in the comments!

Hello everyone,

Hope you're all keeping well.

This is just to let you know that I'm currently working on my next video- which is going to be a special edition from Cambridge.

I was there filming today, and even though the weather was damp the city looked beautiful! In the upcoming video, I'll be sharing a collection of the city's curiosities with you.

As many of you who follow the channel know, the schedule here is a little less frequent at the moment (due to a serious illness in my family) but I'll do my best to get the next video out as soon as possible- I'll keep you updated here in the community tab.

For now, stay well and I'll see you all soon.

Hello everyone,

Hope you're all keeping well.

This is just to let you know that I'm still here and currently hard at work on my next video... which is going to be all about iconic London album covers!

Here's the title card to whet your appetite... I'm sure many of you will know this location ;-)

As you may have read in previous posts there is sadly a serious illness in my family at the moment to contend with.

As such, my schedule is currently a little up and down. I hope to have the album covers video ready soon, but it may take another week or so- I'll keep you updated here in the community tab.

In the meantime, many thanks for your patience and I'll see you soon,
