I listened to Space Laces new Vaultage, and I'm not going to lie. This is one of the best Bass mixtapes that's out right now.
This was so refreshing to hear so many new kinds of bass flows and experimental drops. This is what we've been wanting to see more of.
A part of me feels like I'll never get this good. I'm sure some of you are feeling the same way.
Instead of looking at it in a negative way, I'm honestly more pumped up than ever to become great at music production. I may not ever get to Space Laces' level, but I can at least get better and learn with each day.
One thing that has been helping me out when it comes to making video content, even music in general, is realizing that I'm not going to please everyone.
Everyone has their preferences. They like what they like. They don't like what they don't like. There's nothing wrong with this. It's just how life is.
Thinking that your music is going to be liked by everyone is a recipe for disappointment.
All that matters is that YOU think it's great.
Now if you're a perfectionist like me and you think that it'll never be great until it's "perfect," remember that even imperfect songs still resonate with people.
That's how I was able to teach myself how to make music in FL Studio for the last 10 years.
The one thing I wish I did during those times was actively learn along with the videos. I should've had the DAW open and following along with them instead of just passively consuming them, believing I would know it later.
Of course, that wouldn't be the case. I would forget it hours after watching the video.
What I've learned now through that experience is one simple thing:
Applied knowledge sticks better than passive learning.
So, next time you're learning something from YouTube, be sure to actively learn along with it so the knowledge sticks in your head a lot faster.

Also, there's no such thing as "perfect."

Today is going to be very interesting.
I'm doing a livestream around 2:00 PM MST. For the stream, I'm going to be trying out the trial version on Bitwig Studio.
This should be a fun stream, so I can’t wait to see you all there for the shenanigans.
