Pre-orders for the Retroid Pocket Nova will begin on Friday, 26 June at 9pm ET (6pm PT), and it is expected to start shipping near the end of July. Pre-orders will come with a free screen protector and an additional ergonomic back plate if you want to swap it with the default flat back plate.

Please note that if you click on the link before the pre-orders go live, it will indicate "sold out" (but it's not actually sold out, you're just early).
Here is a video I made going over all of its known specs, and why it's shaping up to become the ultimate compact 4:3 device in our little handheld hobby. https://youtu.be/Hao6L-0Qtk4
I hope to get my hands on a review unit next month, and will provide in-depth coverage as soon as possible.

Every year, I spend a few hours scouring Amazon’s Prime Day deals, and sharing them with you folks. Sadly, the deals keep getting a little worse each year, but I still like finding discounts for everyone.
I'll keep adding more to the list as I find them, please let me know in the comments below if you find anything too! I've put a dollar sign ($) next to what I consider to be the best deals.
Please note that these are affiliate links, clicking on them may earn me a small kickback at no extra cost to you. I use this income to pay for expenses like my website upkeep, hosting this newsletter, etc. Thank you for the support!
Handhelds and consoles:
You can certainly find these handhelds for cheaper on AliExpress, but grabbing them on Amazon allows for easy returns and fast shipping.

Several cool things spotted in the latest Retroid Pocket Nova announcement image:
- Screen specs are 4.5" 1280x960 (4:3) AMOLED 120Hz
- Front-firing speakers
- Crystal buttons (at least with this color option)
- looks like RP6/Thor analog stick caps
- proper Start/Select button placement
- shoulder button seems to be full-sized, suggesting (analog) stacked triggers
- NO GLASS FRONT!

The Steam Machine pricing has finally been revealed, along with some preliminary reviews (unfortunately I wasn't offered a unit this time around). We're looking at $1050 USD for the 512GB storage model, and $1350 for the 2TB model. store.steampowered.com/hardware/steammachine
According to interviews I've seen this morning, Valve said the price jump on the Steam Deck is indicative of the price increase they were forced to apply to the Steam Machine due to ongoing storage/RAM shortages, meaning that it was likely planned to release around $750.
With these updated prices, are you still interested in picking one up?

The Anbernic RG Rotate is now listed on Amazon, it's marked up quite a bit ($120 for plastic, $140 for aluminum). The main advantage is that it comes with free and fast shipping, and easy returns if you decide not to keep it. It seems to come with all the standard bells and whistles: screen protector, optional shoulder buttons, and lanyard.
Depending on where you live, buying direct or via AliExpress could be cheaper. For example, US residents could use code USMS12 on AliExpress to get $12 off right now, making the handheld $86 (plastic) or $106 (aluminum) after the discount.
Amazon:

AliExpress:

Non-affiliate: www.aliexpress.us/item/3256807924941085.html
So it really comes down to priority: fast shipping and easy returns vs best value.

Retroid is hosting a modest "618" sale event right now through June 23rd. "618" is a big sale day in China because it's the anniversary of JD.com's establishment (sort of like their version of Amazon).
Code RPC20 = $20 off the Retroid Pocket Classic
Code RP10 = $10 off the RP5/Flip2/RP4 Pro

Among all these devices, it's the RP Classic that I end up using the most nowadays. Here's an updated look at the handheld: https://youtu.be/aFScJixrmRI

AliExpress just started a mid-summer sale, and applying these discounts can help get the AYN Thor or Odin 3 for cheaper than their website. For example, you can use the code 58RGCSS to get $58 off the Odin 3 Base price, bringing it down to $299 before shipping (it's $340 before shipping on their website).
AYN Thor:

AYN Odin 3:

Non-affiliate: www.aliexpress.us/item/3256810548151381.html
Here are the coupon codes. Note that these codes are US-only, and shipping options will vary based on where you live. The "RGC" codes are limited, so if they are used up the alternative code should work.
MYRGC3 or MYUSAFF3 = $3 off $15 or more
MYRGC7 or MYUSAFF7 = $7 off $42 or more
MYRGC12 or MYUSAFF12 = $12 off $75 or more
18RGCSS or 18USAFFSS = $18 off $99 or more
29RGCSS or 29USAFFSS = $29 off $159 or more
MYRGC42 or MYUSAFF42 = $42 off $259 or more
58RGCSS or 58USAFFSS = $58 off $339 or more
MYRGC70 or MYUSAFF70 = $70 off $459 or more
MYRGC90 or MYUSAFF90 = $90 off $579 or more
One trick is that if your purchase is just below the threshold of one of these tiers, you can throw in something cheap (like a screen protector or carrying case) to reach the next level and potentially save more.
Note that wait times will still be long for these devices (like ordering from their website), I would expect a two-month delay. AliExpress will sometimes auto-cancel an order if its shipping is delayed too long, so I would recommend checking the order periodically and extending the shipping date to make sure it doesn't get cancelled.
I was also able to access some global codes, if you are outside the US you can try these:
AFMY2: $2 off orders of $15+
AFMY4: $4 off orders of $30+
AFMY9: $9 off orders of $65+
AFMY15: $15 off orders of $120+
AFMY25: $25 off orders of $209+
AFMY40: $40 off orders of $329+
AFMY55: $55 off orders of $449+

In a surprisingly pro-consumer move, Anbernic has now launched a dedicated parts and accessories page. Nearly the whole catalog is represented, to include shells, screens, buttons, joysticks, batteries, and more.
Affiliate link: tinyurl.com/AnbernicAccessories
Non-affiliate: anbernic.com/products/accessories
Previously, users had to email or DM the company via AliExpress to see what parts were available, so it's nice to see that you can throw together a wishlist of stuff directly on their site. My favorite aspect is that you can actually buy just about every part for some of their devices (like their ill-fated Win600), meaning savvy shoppers could cosplay Dr. Frankenstein and create their own personal handheld project.

Retroid has restocked the 12GB RAM model of their Retroid Pocket 6 handheld, and it's currently selling for $279 plus shipping. This model comes with 128GB storage (like their 8GB RAM model); the extra RAM could help with more demanding PC titles via apps like GameNative, but general emulation will be the same between the 8GB and 12GB models. Note that the 12GB model only comes with the analog stick up top, and is limited to the silver, 16-bit, and black color options.
