The Call to Repentance: Come Home

Scripture Focus: Acts 3:19; 2 Peter 3:9; Luke 15:7; Ezekiel 18:21; Isaiah 55:7; 2 Chronicles 7:14

Repentance is one of those words we hear often in Scripture, but sometimes we forget what a beautiful invitation it truly is.

Repentance is not simply feeling guilty because we have done something wrong. It is not merely saying, “I'm sorry,” and then continuing in the same direction.

Repentance means turning.

Turning away from sin. Turning away from our own way. Turning away from the things that separate us from God—and turning toward Him.

Peter preached:

“Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out…”
—Acts 3:19 KJV

Notice what follows the command to repent: “that your sins may be blotted out.”

God does not call us to repentance because He delights in watching us suffer under guilt. He calls us to repentance because He desires reconciliation.

Sin separates us from a holy God, but God Himself made the way back to Him.

And that way is Jesus Christ.

The cross is where God's holiness and God's mercy meet. Jesus Christ took upon Himself the judgment that our sin deserved. He died in our place, shed His blood for our sins, and rose again victorious over death.

That is why repentance is not hopeless.

It is an invitation to come home.

God's Patience Is Mercy

Peter tells us:

“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
—2 Peter 3:9 KJV

God's delay is not God's indifference.

His patience is mercy.

Every day that He gives us is another day in which sinners can hear the Gospel, turn from their sins, and place their faith in Jesus Christ.

We sometimes ask, “Why hasn't God judged this yet?”

Scripture gives us part of the answer: He is longsuffering.

He is giving people time to repent.

But God's patience should never be mistaken for approval.

Just because judgment has not happened yet does not mean judgment will never come.

Jesus Christ is coming again.

The same Jesus who came as the Lamb of God will return as the righteous Judge. Revelation tells us of the conquering Christ whose judgment is pictured with a sharp sword proceeding from His mouth.

That truth should sober us—but it should not cause the believer to despair.

Because the same Christ who will judge the world is the Christ who offers salvation to the world today.

Heaven Rejoices When We Turn

Jesus said:

“I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth…”
—Luke 15:7 KJV

Think about that.

Heaven rejoices over repentance.

The world may mock the person who admits their sin. Pride tells us to defend ourselves, justify ourselves, rename our sin, and blame everyone else.

But God says, turn around.

There is no shame in coming to Christ broken.

There is no humiliation in admitting that we were wrong.

There is no disgrace in saying, “Lord, I have sinned. I need You.”

The disgrace is remaining in rebellion when mercy has been offered.

The prodigal son didn't clean himself up before returning to his father.

He came home.

And his father received him.

That is the heart behind repentance.

Repentance Produces a Change of Direction

Ezekiel says:

“But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed… he shall surely live, he shall not die.”
—Ezekiel 18:21 KJV

Biblical repentance involves turning from sin.

That doesn't mean a Christian will never stumble again. We are still sinners living in a fallen world.

But there should be a difference between falling into sin and choosing to live in sin without repentance.

A repentant heart doesn't say, “I want Jesus, but I also want my sin.”

It says, “Lord, I want You. Help me leave this behind.”

Sometimes that turning is immediate.

Sometimes it is painful.

Sometimes it is a battle.

But the direction changes.

We stop making peace with the very things Christ died to save us from.

The Promise of Abundant Pardon

Isaiah gives us one of the most beautiful invitations in Scripture:

“Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.”
—Isaiah 55:7 KJV

Abundantly pardon.

Not barely pardon.

Not reluctantly pardon.

Not pardon with a list of conditions attached to make us earn it.

Abundantly pardon.

That doesn't mean sin doesn't matter.

Sin matters so much that Jesus had to die for it.

Grace isn't God pretending our sin wasn't serious.

Grace is God providing what we could never provide for ourselves.

We could never make ourselves righteous enough.

We could never undo our past.

We could never pay our own sin debt.

So Jesus did what we could not do.

He paid it.

Humble Yourself. Seek Him. Turn.

2 Chronicles 7:14 says:

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways…”

The pattern is beautiful:

Humble yourself.
Pray.
Seek God.
Turn.

We live in a world that constantly tells us to look inward for our answers.

Scripture tells us to look upward.

Seek His face.

Not merely His blessings.

Not merely His protection.

Not merely what He can give us.

Him.

Because ultimately, repentance isn't about getting a better life.

It's about getting right with God.

And through Jesus Christ, we can.

Grace Does Not Cancel Truth

We must be careful not to make repentance into a message of condemnation.

But we must also be careful not to make grace into permission to remain in sin.

Jesus never did either.

He was full of grace and truth.

He welcomed sinners.

He forgave sinners.

He ate with sinners.

He sought sinners.

But He also told them to repent.

Why?

Because He loves them too much to leave them enslaved to sin.

The Gospel is not, “You are such a terrible person that God wants nothing to do with you.”

Neither is it, “Sin doesn't matter because God loves you.”

The Gospel is:

You are a sinner.
God loves you.
Your sin separates you from Him.
Jesus Christ died for your sins.
He rose again.
Repent and believe the Gospel.
Come to Christ.

That is grace.

That is truth.

That is hope.

Jesus Is Coming Again

One day, the invitation to repent will no longer be extended in this present age.

Christ will return.

The Judge will come.

Sin will be judged.

Every knee will bow.

And the question will not be whether we were good enough.

The question will be whether we belong to Jesus Christ.

For those who have placed their faith in Him, there is glorious hope.

Our salvation does not rest upon our ability to make ourselves perfect.

It rests upon the finished work of Jesus Christ.

“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus.”
—Romans 8:1 KJV

That is why we don't preach repentance as though we are trying to scare people into heaven.

We preach repentance because Jesus is calling sinners to Himself.

His grace is real.

His mercy is real.

His forgiveness is real.

His judgment is real.

And His return is real.

So while there is still time, turn toward Him.

If you have wandered, come home.

If you have been living in rebellion, surrender.

If you have never trusted Christ, believe on Him.

Don't run from Jesus because of your sin.

Run to Jesus because of your sin.

The cross is where your guilt can be forgiven.

The empty tomb is where your hope begins.

And the returning King is the One we are waiting for.

Repentance is not the end of hope.

Repentance is the road that leads us back to the One who is our hope.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for Your mercy and Your longsuffering. Thank You that You do not delight in the destruction of sinners, but call us to repentance.

Search our hearts and show us anything that is displeasing to You. Give us the humility to confess our sins, the courage to turn away from them, and the desire to seek Your face above everything else.

Thank You for Jesus Christ, who paid the price we could never pay. Thank You for His blood, His cross, His resurrection, and the salvation that is found in Him.

Help us never to take Your grace lightly. Let our repentance be genuine, our faith steadfast, and our lives surrendered to You.

And while we wait for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ, help us to speak the truth in love—to warn others of coming judgment while also proclaiming the glorious hope of the Gospel.

May those who are far from You turn and come home.

May those who have wandered return.

And may we never forget that there is forgiveness, mercy, and abundant pardon through Jesus Christ.

When Heaven Seems Silent, Look at the Throne

Key Scriptures: Revelation 4:2; Revelation 5:6-13; Matthew 5:8

The devotional

Have you ever prayed and wondered, “God, where are You?”

You prayed for the answer.

You prayed for the healing.

You prayed for the situation to change.

You prayed for God to move—and yet the ceiling didn't move.

Nothing seemed to happen.

And in those moments, silence can feel an awful lot like absence.

But what if silence isn't absence?

What if we simply cannot see what God is doing?

Revelation 4:2 says:

“And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.”



John was taken into heaven, and the first thing he draws our attention to is the throne.

Not an empty heaven.

Not an abandoned heaven.

Not a heaven where God had stepped away.

A throne.

And Someone was sitting upon it.

God was still reigning.

Then Revelation 5 reveals something even more beautiful.

John sees the Lamb.

Revelation 5:6 says:

“And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne... stood a Lamb as it had been slain...”



The Lamb.

Jesus Christ.

The One who was slain for our sins.

The One who conquered death.

The One who redeemed us with His blood.

So when we are hurting and wondering where God is, we have to remember this:

The throne hasn't moved.

Our circumstances may change.

Our emotions may change.

Our understanding may change.

But God's position does not change.

We may say, “God is silent.”

But heaven says, “There is a throne.”

We may say, “God has forgotten me.”

But Scripture says Psalm 34:18:

“The LORD is nigh unto them that be of a broken heart...”



We may say, “Nobody sees these tears.”

But Psalm 56:8 tells us:

“Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book?”



Your tears are not invisible to God.

Your prayers are not invisible to God.

Your suffering is not invisible to God.

And your waiting is not outside His sovereignty.

But here's where I want to be careful.

This doesn't mean God will always give us the answer we want, when we want it.

Faith isn't believing that God will do exactly what we ask.

Faith is believing that God is still God when He doesn't.

Sometimes He moves the mountain.

Sometimes He gives us strength to climb it.

Sometimes He removes the storm.

Sometimes He carries us through it.

And sometimes we don't understand what He was doing until much later.

But through all of it...

He is still on the throne.

And He is still the Lamb.

Then Jesus gives us this incredible promise in Matthew 5:8:

“Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.”



Oh, what a promise.

One day, Christian, you won't have to wonder what heaven looks like.

You won't need an artistic visualization.

You won't need a cinematic interpretation.

You won't need somebody else's description.

You will see Him.

The One you've prayed to.

The One you've trusted.

The One you couldn't always see working.

The One who seemed silent.

You will see God.

So if you're in a season right now where heaven seems silent, don't mistake silence for absence.

Lift your eyes.

Look beyond the circumstance.

Look beyond the unanswered prayer.

Look beyond what you can see.

There is a throne.

And upon that throne reigns the King.

And in the midst of that throne stands the Lamb.

Jesus has not forgotten you.

Jesus has not lost control.

Jesus has not abandoned His children.

The silence has a throne.

And the throne has a Lamb.

And the Lamb has already overcome.

Hallelujah.

Amen.

🙏 Closing prayer

Father, when we cannot see what You are doing, help us remember who You are.

When heaven seems silent, remind us that You are still seated upon the throne.

When our hearts are breaking, remind us that You are near.

When we feel forgotten, remind us that You see us.

When we cannot understand Your timing, give us the faith to trust Your character.

And Lord Jesus, help us keep our eyes upon You—the Lamb who was slain, the Lamb who redeemed us, and the Lamb who reigns forever.

Keep our hearts pure and our eyes fixed upon You until that glorious day when faith becomes sight and we see You face to face.

In the precious name of Jesus Christ,

You know you have saved posts on different social media platforms, and sometimes, you just have to go back, look at them, and say, "I need to go and share this particular post?"... Well, this is one of those moments.

This is a long post (the OP even says so) and I'm going to give credit where the credit is due: Brother Rodney McDuff. Not only is he my preacher/pastor, but, he's also my brother-in-Christ, my bro, and my friend. He's someone who keeps me on my toes, always picks on me (yeah, and I pick back and he knows it, lol), and God placed him in my life before I even knew him.

How to Love God's Word...

1. Eat the Word 🍞
Don’t just taste it—take it in and let it nourish you. Jeremiah said, “Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart” (Jeremiah 15:16, KJV). We need the Word like we need daily food.

2. Look for Jesus ✝️
From Genesis to Revelation, Scripture points us to Christ. Jesus Himself said, “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me” (John 5:39, KJV). Ask: “What does this reveal about God? About His plan of redemption? About my Savior?”

3. Ask Questions 🔎
Don’t be afraid to ask “why,” “what does this mean,” and “how does this apply?” God is not threatened by honest seeking. “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally…” (James 1:5, KJV).

4. Read Slowly to Listen 🕊️
Sometimes we rush through chapters and miss what the Holy Spirit is showing us. Slow down. Meditate. Pray over a verse. Let God speak through His Word instead of just trying to finish a reading goal.

5. Keep Showing Up Daily 📖
Consistency builds hunger. There will be days when you feel deeply moved and days when you don’t feel much at all—but faithfulness matters. “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly… But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night” (Psalm 1:1-2, KJV).

Prayer:
Lord, give me a hunger for Your Word. Open my eyes to behold wondrous things out of Thy law (Psalm 119:18). Teach me, correct me, strengthen me, and draw me closer to Jesus Christ through every page. Amen 🙏🏼✝️☝🏼🙌🏼❤️💯🕊

"Who are you to judge?"

That question is often used as a way to silence anyone who speaks truth from the Word of God. But the question we should ask is not, "Am I allowed to judge?" The question is, "Am I judging according to God's Word, with a heart of humility, love, and a desire for restoration?"

Jesus did say:

"Judge not, that ye be not judged." (Matthew 7:1 KJV)

But He did not say, "Never use discernment." He continued by warning against hypocrisy and told us to first remove the beam from our own eye, so we could help our brother with the mote in his.

Jesus also said:

"Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment." (John 7:24 KJV)

There is a difference between condemning someone in pride and lovingly pointing someone back to the truth of God.

Galatians 6:1 tells us:

"Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness..."

Restore.

Not shame. Not humiliate. Not act as though we are better.

Restore.

Because we remember that we are sinners saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.

James 5:19-20 reminds us:

"Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him; Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death..."

If someone is wandering away from the truth, love does not stay silent. Love warns. Love pleads. Love points back to Jesus.

Matthew 18:15 says:

"Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone..."

Jesus Himself taught that there are times when sin must be addressed.

The issue was never whether Christians should care about righteousness. The issue is whether we do it God's way.

Are we speaking truth in love? Are we examining our own hearts first? Are we pointing people toward repentance and the grace found in Jesus Christ?

We are not called to be judges sitting above others. We are called to be ambassadors of Christ, sharing His truth and His love.

Truth without love becomes a weapon. Love without truth becomes deception.

But when we speak the truth in love, with the heart of Christ, we are following His command.

"Who are you to judge?"

A follower of Jesus Christ who is called to love others enough to speak the truth of God's Word—with humility, grace, and a heart longing for restoration.

When the World Rejects the Messenger

"If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you." — John 15:18 (KJV)

There is a sobering truth that every follower of Jesus Christ must come to understand: not everyone will receive the Gospel with joy. Some will listen with open hearts. Others will walk away. Some may mock, argue, reject, or even persecute those who faithfully proclaim the truth of God's Word.

This should not surprise us.

Our Lord Jesus Christ—the sinless Son of God, full of grace and truth—was rejected by many. He healed the sick, gave sight to the blind, raised the dead, and proclaimed the way of salvation, yet He was despised, falsely accused, and ultimately crucified. If the perfect Savior was rejected, should His servants expect universal acceptance?

Jesus lovingly prepared His disciples for this reality:

"Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you..." — John 15:20

The measure of faithfulness is not found in how many people accept the message, but in whether we faithfully proclaim it.

God never calls us to save anyone. Salvation belongs to Him alone. We cannot soften hearts, open blind eyes, or bring spiritual life to the dead. Only the Holy Spirit can do that. Our responsibility is simply to sow the seed of God's Word with love, humility, truth, and patience.

Paul reminds us:

"I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase." — 1 Corinthians 3:6

Sometimes we are the planter. Sometimes we are the one who waters. Occasionally, by God's grace, we witness the harvest. But every role is valuable because God is the One who brings the increase.

When people reject the Gospel, they are not merely rejecting the messenger—they are rejecting the One who sent the message.

Jesus said:

"He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me..." — Luke 10:16

This truth should both humble and comfort us. It keeps us from pride when people respond positively, and it keeps us from despair when they do not.

Our calling is to remain faithful.

To speak truth without compromise.

To love without partiality.

To answer with meekness and respect.

To pray for those who oppose us.

To trust that God's Word will accomplish exactly what He has purposed.

The Gospel has always divided hearts. It convicts, exposes sin, calls people to repentance, and points them to the only Savior who can forgive and redeem. Some will embrace that message with joy. Others will resist it. Yet neither response changes the truth of the Gospel or the faithfulness of God.

Do not lose heart.

If you are mocked for standing upon God's Word, remember that Christ was mocked first.

If you are rejected, remember that Christ was rejected first.

If you are misunderstood, remember that Christ was misunderstood first.

Continue to speak His truth in love, leave the results in God's hands, and rest in the assurance that no faithful witness is ever wasted in the kingdom of God.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Strengthen us to be faithful ambassadors for Your Son, regardless of how the world responds. Guard our hearts from discouragement when we are rejected and from pride when we are accepted. Help us to speak Your truth with love, grace, boldness, and humility. Remind us that our responsibility is faithfulness, while the work of changing hearts belongs to You alone. May we never grow weary in proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ, knowing that Your Word never returns void. Use our lives for Your glory, and may many come to repentance and faith through the power of Your Holy Spirit.

🌿 2 Corinthians 4 Devotional — “We Faint Not” 🌿
This morning the Lord keeps bringing me back to this truth: we are not holding ourselves together—God is holding us together.
“We faint not…” (2 Corinthians 4:1)
Not because life is easy, but because mercy is new every single day. When you’re running on empty, God is still running grace into your life.
“We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed.” (2 Corinthians 4:8–9)
Pressed, but not crushed.
Confused, but not abandoned.
Knocked down, but not finished.
The difference is not strength—it’s presence. God is WITH us in the pressure.
“But we have this treasure in earthen vessels…” (2 Corinthians 4:7)
We are clay jars. Fragile. Cracked. Ordinary.
But God fills weak vessels so it’s clear the power is His, not ours.
That means your breaking point is not where God stops—it’s often where He starts showing His strength.
“For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory…” (2 Corinthians 4:17)
What you’re carrying is real—but it’s not final. It’s temporary compared to what God is producing in you that you cannot yet see.
“While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen…” (2 Corinthians 4:18)
Because what’s visible right now is not the whole story. God is working in what cannot yet be seen.
💛 Today’s reminder: • You are not abandoned
• You are not destroyed
• You are not forgotten
• You are being sustained by God Himself
• And He will finish what He started
When you feel weak today, you are not disqualified—you are being carried.
