At One Terra Foundation, we provide professional livestock consulting services to farmers, dairy entrepreneurs, and livestock businesses, with a focus on practical, sustainable, and financially viable farm development.

As part of one of our recent projects, our team visited a dairy farm to assess the existing infrastructure, understand the farm’s requirements, identify areas for improvement, and prepare a detailed Project Report (DPR).

Leading our Livestock Consulting Wing is Mr. Sathish Kumar, Co-Founder of One Terra Foundation, who brings 25 years of hands-on experience in livestock and dairy farming.

🌾 Salem District Farmers’ Grievance Meeting

A farmers’ grievance meeting was held in Salem district, where farmers brought forward several important concerns and demands before the District Collector.

Key demands raised by the farmers:

🔹 Declare Salem district as a drought-affected district considering the prevailing water scarcity.

🔹 Provide livestock feed at subsidised prices to support farmers facing increasing fodder costs.

🔹 Before farmers undertake borewell drilling, the concerned government departments should properly assess the groundwater availability and geological conditions of the area.

🔹 With groundwater levels declining and several existing borewells becoming dry, farmers have requested 50% subsidy for installing borewell motors.

🔹 Farmers also raised concerns about leopard movement in rural areas, where livestock such as goats, cattle and poultry are reportedly being attacked. They requested the Forest Department to take appropriate action to ensure the safety of people and livestock.

These concerns were recorded on behalf of Country Farmss by farmer Mr. Sathish Kumar.

The farmers expect appropriate government action on these issues, which directly affect agricultural livelihoods, livestock safety and water security in the district.

The Zero Prize is results-based.

Shortlisted solutions undergo real-world pilots and independent scientific verification. The organisers assess environmental impact, feasibility, scalability, economic viability and replicability.

For Indian organisations applying as the Lead Applicant, the call includes an important FCRA requirement at the full application and contracting stages.

Therefore, organisations without FCRA should carefully examine the partnership provisions and consider working with an eligible FCRA-registered organisation where appropriate.

I recently had the opportunity to visit the new organic store of Mr. Uzhavar Anand in Namakkal.

The store offers a range of products connected with organic farming, traditional seeds, natural food and sustainable living, creating a space where farmers, home gardeners and consumers can explore healthier and more sustainable choices.

What I particularly appreciated was the focus on traditional seeds and organic agricultural practices. Initiatives like these can help strengthen awareness about seed conservation, natural farming and sustainable food systems.

As an agricultural journalist, I believe it is important to document such grassroots initiatives and the people working to build a more sustainable agricultural ecosystem.

It was a pleasure to visit the new store and learn more about Uzhavar Anand’s journey and vision.
