December 10, 1996 — Redman released his third studio album, Muddy Waters, a highly revered project that solidified his position as one of Hip-Hop's most consistently charismatic and lyrically versatile MCs.

The album delivered Redman's signature brand of rugged, funk-drenched East Coast Hip-Hop, characterized by raw humor, complex rhyme schemes, and an unmatched energy. Executively produced by Erick Sermon, the sound was built on heavy, psychedelic-funk samples and hard-hitting boom-bap drums.

Muddy Waters featured key tracks like the infectious "Whateva Man" (which became his first major chart hit), "It's Like That (My Big Brother)," and "Smoke Buddah," capturing the essence of the "Funk Doctor Spock" persona with his unique, off-kilter perspective.
