Anyone that knows me well, knows I am a Minnesota State Fair super fan.

I (almost) never miss a year (boo Covid!) and I fly across the country to visit every year. In fact 2 years ago I went to the fair during the day then flew to Europe that night 🤪

Here are some tips you need to know about visiting the fair:

🍪 the fair runs from Aug 21 - Sep 1
🍪 the busiest days are Saturday & Sunday of Labor Day weekend
🍪 the least busy days are usually Tuesday and Wednesday
🍪 wear comfortable shoes as you’ll be standing and walking most of the day 👟
🍪 bring cash! Some vendors take cards but many are still cash only 😢
🍪 you can bring in outside food & drinks. There are usually people selling water bottles for $1 near the entrances
🍪 bring a portable charger 📱⚡️
🍪 the best way to get here is on one of the many buses around the twin cities no expensive parking or Ubers
🍪 just because there’s a line doesn’t mean it’s worth the wait
🍪 don’t buy the coupon book unless you have a big group
🍪 the bandshell has the best free live music

Things that made sense at my hotel in Stockholm

🏨 a universal power converter (I could have used this in Zurich 😩)
🏨 non-plastic keys! These help cut down unnecessary plastic consumption
🏨 robe & slippers - a must for a hotel especially when they have…
🏨 sauna & cold plunge pool - this was the best way to wind down at the end of the day
🏨 amenity box - this was so well stocked and easy to grab what you need if you forget something
🏨 tons of counter space! I recently stayed at a hotel with a PEDESTAL SINK, absolutely not.

Obviously, you get what you pay for, and the @hotelreisen is not your average hotel. It’s definitely worth the splurge.

2024 travel year in review for ‪@adventureswithcarli‬

It’s crazy to believe we’re already at the end of 2024! To say this has been my “year of travel” is an understatement.

This year I decided that I’m focusing on what makes me happy, and that’s traveling. But I still have to do this with a fully time job. How did I accomplish all of this?

✈️ I’m using every single vacation day (I get 4 weeks) and maximizing holiday travel.

💻 by EOY I’ll have worked over 4 weeks remotely. This sounds a lot but averages to 2 days a month.

💳 I’ve utilize my travel credit cards to redeem 13 award flights and 2 RT companion tickets. This includes travel to Guatemala, Ireland, Switzerland & Germany, and Australia.

💁🏼‍♀️ I’m also bookmarking 2024 with solo trips. I started the year on a beach in Thailand, and I’ll be ending the year with fireworks over the Sydney harbor. Don’t wait for others to travel when and where you want!

👋 Hi I’m Carli, a frequent solo traveler. I’ve traveled solo to more than 15 countries over 4 continents.

The Heidelberg Christmas Market is an extremely popular Christmas Market in Germany, due to its picturesque scenery and local nature.

Sometimes traveling can feel like an Olympic sport, whether it’s sprinting to catch your flight, the baggage lift into the overhead, or the gymnastics of climbing over your seat mate to get to the lavs 😆
