Flashback Fridays will be skipped again this week. (You can thank Switch 2 for that again, lol) We should be back to that next week, however.

All right, some good news and bad news for this Wednesday morning.
Good news: Switch 2 has already sold over 3.5 million units worldwide during its first several days of availability. That easily outpaces Switch 1's first week sales from 2017, so very good on that front.
Bad news: I was informed by ‪@VideoGameFan-zp3ij‬  that I accidentally re-uploaded the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe video from ‪@videogamefan9637‬'s birthday special as part one of the most recent birthday special that is on the channel. Normally this would be an easy fix, but since I no longer have the file that should've been uploaded for that portion, I will need to re-film the segment with a different game in its place. Fortunately, this is the only segment that needs to be re-done. The rest of ‪@VideoGameFan-zp3ij‬'s special is as it should be.

Only five days into Switch 2 and the console already has its first out of nowhere completely random announcement. A brand new Splatoon spin off titled Splatoon Raiders will be coming exclusively to Switch 2. No release date at this time, but I personally think it'll be a 2026 title given how crowded the rest of this year is.

After having the Switch 2 in my possession for the past couple of days, there are definitely positive things to say about the console. However, there are also some negative things as well and I will be covering both sides more fully in a first impressions video this upcoming week so stay tuned.

Well, this is it. Today, June 4th of 2025, officially marks the end of the Switch 1 generation, a generation that lasted for quite a while. Usually, Nintendo's console generations typically last for about five to six years before a new console releases. The Switch 1 generation, however, lasted eight years, which is a very long time. This beast first unleashed back on March 3rd, 2017 with Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild serving as the major launch title. While it's an awesome game, it wasn't one that I was particularly interested in playing, hence why I ignored the Switch on day 1. I did eventually get it in July of 2018 during a video game convention that had taken place about an hour or so away from where I live. At that point, Mario odyssey had come out, along with a re-release of Mario Kart 8 and those two titles alone were enough to convince me to buy the console. In the seven years since that initial purchase, I've had lots of fun times on the Switch and played a large selection of games. But, just like with any generation, all things have to end eventually and the companies have to move on to better and newer things. Tomorrow, the Switch 1's little brother, aka the Switch 2, will officially release to the public. I'm sure I'll make just as many memories with this system as I did with the Switch 1. I will also be livestreaming later tonight from my GameStop as we get set for the Switch 2 launch. before that, however, a special video will be coming out at 1pm Eastern time this afternoon where I will be going over the Switch 1 era in general and highlighting some of the major titles that released during each year of the Switch 1's life cycle. Hopefully you enjoy that, and if you can, tune in to the live stream later tonight. Have a good day, folks.
