UNDP’s FUNGUO Innovation Programme is a multi-partner initiative designed to catalyse Tanzania’s innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem. It is co-funded by the European Union, the British Government (FCDO), and the Government of Finland, and is initiated and implemented by UNDP Tanzania in collaboration with key ecosystem partners.

FUNGUO’s mission is to increase the number of successfully scaled, impact-driven startups and innovative MSMEs, enabling them to contribute meaningfully to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Tanzania. Positioned in the “missing middle” of the startup ecosystem, FUNGUO plays a catalytic role by bridging critical funding gaps faced by scalable ventures, building a strong pipeline of investment-ready enterprises for medium- to large-ticket investors, and partnering strategically with ecosystem actors to strengthen innovation support systems.
