Welcome to the Digital Aloha YouTube channel!
During the second year of the pandemic (2021) I started this YouTube channel, originally named Digital Aloha Tech Tips, where I create video tutorials mainly on services and applications that one can run on a Synology NAS.
Since then the channel has steadily grown and many of the comments I receive are that my video tutorials are very comprehensive and complete, helping viewers get past issues in their setup.
Going forward I’ll continue to release comprehensive tutorials covering Synology NASs and I welcome you to check to my videos, as well as subscribe to the channel if the videos are helpful. I'm also looking to expand into complimentary niches, such as Synology routers, cloud services and other NAS brands.

If you'd like to remotely access your UGREEN NAS, then you'll want to try UGREEN's built-in UGREENlink. The set up is simple (no changes to your router) and, if you've setup the UGREEN NAS Automated Media Server, you'll be able to remotely access apps like Seerr, Plex and Jellyfin. I’ve had a lot of comments asking how to run the UGREEN NAS Automated Media Server without a VPN, so I decided to test it properly.
In this video, I temporarily disabled VPN protection for qBittorrent and used Wireshark (running on the NAS via Docker) to capture and analyze the traffic.
Then I compared it side-by-side with the VPN enabled.
The results were… pretty eye-opening.
👉 Without the VPN, qBittorrent traffic exposed BitTorrent activity and my public IP address
👉 With the VPN enabled, none of that was visible in the capture
After that, I also walk through exactly how to disable GlueTUN for qBittorrent and SABnzbd if you still want to run without a VPN.
If you’re using an ARR stack, this is definitely worth a watch before you decide to turn anything off.
