An update. Listen, I'm sorry. I know a lot of you love watching the ducks and geese do their thing, a couple of you enjoy my commentary. I took some time to make some money for Benji and her vet bills, everything suffered because of this lapse of uploading, etc. So far in one year of being monetized on YT, I made 100. I am close to getting another 100, but I will lose monetization before that happens, I just dont have the views and watch hours. IDK, theres a few of us that enjoy just watching the birds, without fanfare, just sitting down and relaxing. I was really hoping to use this channel and the coloring books (which I lost that Amazon account yesterday and I am not entitled to my last 2 months of books sales) to launch a nonprofit, bettering communities (which also includes a waterfowl rescue). I had an entire business plan made and everything was in line to starting.. beginning with a community garden in a much needed town and expanding to a farmers market, a sustainable living community, community center with free trade and apprenticeship classes and so much more. My vision was grandiose (well beyond what I wrote here) and I think you would have been proud to be a part of it. I know it makes my heart sing to have your support. I got distracted when Benji started losing mobility.. I was also starting to lose mobility (Getting old is hard)... I was torn, do get my beloved duck that I love more than anything else in the world a risky (an overly expensive +$10K) surgery or do I keep her comfortable with medications and I can help her get around until she cant do for herself. Well we are nearly at that point. . I will make a very hard decision in the near future. I'm not sure what to do. I'm in tears many days. I feel like a failure on so many levels and I don't like feeling this way.
There's other stuff going on too. We will likely lose Minerva, she jumped the fence today and right into Roxy's mouth. It wasn't a good day.
I don't know if I will continue to work toward my dream of bettering the lives of others. As the the days go on, I am saddened by the the conflicts, not only the wars, but the division, fighting and back biting amongst people. I live with my ducks and geese, it is a much better place than even my own neighborhood. I just don't know. I'm sorry if you are disappointed too.
I will continue to upload videos sometimes, just for those of you that love the birds. If I had it my way, I'd have you over here and we could sit in person and watch (that would have been for real if I ever got the rescue off the ground, actually when.. I'm keeping that goal)

It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of Sam. He was almost 6 years old. Over the last few days, he has let his guard down and let me care for him, pet him and hold him. This winter is brutal and taking a toll on everyone at the homestead. We are having an unusually cold winter, well below zero temperatures. This is hard on the birds with arthritis and past injuries (and the fowl momma too) Sam had both past injuries and arthritis. I am happy that we were able to make amends and make his last days comfortable and full of love and warmth.
Thank you for continuing to watch videos and playlists while I am not able to record and make videos outside.

Oh boy... I have an idea. I need some time to think about it work it out. Until then, tell me what your favorite childhood book was and around what year that book was written.
I was at Goodwill today, I found a tiny 5x6" paperback book, Peppermint about a white kitten, date 1966. I remember this book and the illustrations. I will make a video of it. I read to the birds all the time, whether they enjoy it or not!

Story time: I found Baloo as a tiny tiny kitten in the fall of 2023, he was in my flower bed. I trapped him in my garage and it took 10 days to gain his trust. A year later I noticed a gray cat watching me from a distance when I would play with the ducks. He was very afraid and feral. It took 6 months to catch him in a trap.. (Prior to me getting him, my neighbor trapped him and got him neutered, this is why his ear is cut off at the top, she had him live in a small box trap for a month) Anyway, I put him in the garage and set him free in there, Baloo instantly wanted in the garage to see what was in there, almost like he knew this fella. (I am 100% sure these 2 are related) I thought why not, let Baloo break the ice. There was growling off and on for a couple of days and then nothing. For months we would feed him (we call him Satchmo) Satchmo would just hide and never came out. And then one day I walked in, and Baloo introduced us. "See this is her, look, she is nice, she will love you, look look look!" as he wrapped around my legs. I'm absolutely certain this is what Baloo was saying to Satchmo. I saw little eyes peeking out from under a wheelbarrow. I tried to play the feather toy with him, Baloo would do then sit back to let Satchmo do it. Satchmo was afraid, and would just watch. He slowly started to play. It took several months of dedication. I could tell there were issues with Satchmos body, but I just didnt know the extent until I was able to touch him. It took 6 months for him to allow me to touch him, all over. The most obvious injury was his tail cut in half. I am also able to feel bones that have broken and healed that way, 4 in this tail, two in his lower back, his forearms and wrists. Since the 2 on his spine makes it difficult to bend, this means he can't wash is bum, I do it several times a day. Baloo taught him to use the litterbox and he is really good with that, he will ask to be let back in the garage to use it. He wont climb steps so he hasnt found the one in the house yet. He still is not trustworthy 100% yet. We are just learning this week to sleep with me, sit on my lap and being held is ok too. Its awkward, but thats ok, I will deal with it! I have a feeling, these 2 are brothers, littermates. We have Baloo's DNA done and when the time comes, I will get Satchmos done too. Baloo has American domestic, Scottish fold, British shorthair, Norwegian forest cat and main coon. I can see the British look in Satchmos face and in his fur. I don't want to set progress back, patience is key. I would need to swab his mouth. Even though Baloo has his own channel, I will still post updates here for anyone interested.
