Brace yourself for the non-magical yet equally transformative world of Gwendolyn "G" R. Houston-Jack, a.k.a. BlackPowerBunny. Gwendolyn is not just a name; it's a beacon of authenticity inviting you to a soiree where the wine flows as freely as the conversation. Imagine clinking glasses of Chardonnay while discussing the finesse of a vintage piece of fashion or unraveling the secrets to balancing family, self-care, and dreams over a hearty laugh. That's the essence of my world.

My content is like a well-curated closet—everything has its place, and negativity is out of style. Here, you'll savor the rich tapestry of life's experiences woven with threads of empowerment and enlightenment. There's "Small Biz Bites," where I feature small business owners and creatives. There's also "Guuuuurl...Listen," where I tackle women's issues with a dash of sass. From self-love to societal taboos, nothing is off the table.

During the pandemic, my doctor recommended I add a Vitamin D pill to my diet. I wasn't getting enough of this vitamin, and she was concerned.

Ask your doctor about vitamin D, iron, or your thyroid levels. Black women are often overlooked when it comes to our overall health. And your health deserves attention.

You know what I have yet to stop doing: dreaming. This isn’t the dreaming at night when you’re asleep, but creating and dedicating time to open my journal and write down my aspirations. This is the time to sit outside and let the brain do what it does.

As I prepare to reimagine this jacked-up project called the United States of America, I’m actively writing down my dreams for the future. Trust me, this current version is a bust, and what existed before wasn’t the best either. Here’s the Monday Message Challenge: Your dreams are data. This week (and beyond), write down one dream you’ve been avoiding saying out loud.

Naming a dream gives it shape. Writing it down gives it direction. You don’t have to know the “how” yet; just honor the “what.” What dream is calling you forward?

Years ago, when my mother was researching her family history, she, her mother, and a cousin drove around their hometown recording landmarks important to the family. During the drive, my grandmother shared tons of stories. All of this knowledge and history was recorded on a mini camcorder.

I'm happy to say that years later, I decided to convert all the family films into a digital format. Best idea ever. Now, I'm busy uploading these family videos and memories to YouTube for the entire family to enjoy.

Capture one story from your elder this week. It can be a voice memo, a photo, a memory, or just anything. Legacy lives in the details.

It's not a surprise that most caregiving duties fall on the shoulders of women. It's quite common, actually. I appreciate having siblings who gladly share in the caregiving duties for our mother. That means the work required doesn't fall on one person. Not everyone has that.

Beyond caring for yourself, who are you caring for?

I said this months ago, and I shall continue to share this: it takes everything in me to get up every day and consciously choose joy. These raggedy, mediocre bitches out here are really testing my patience, but I’m a fighter. I’m here for the long haul. With that, I’m gonna jump right into our Monday Message Challenge. Believe you me, this challenge is a reminder for me as well.

My dear friend Aicila reached out to me, and we had the best phone call. There was chatting, a little laughter, and a lot of joy. Ya’ll, we need more of this. The only way we are going to weather this storm of extreme racism, misogyny, and bigotry is by coming together as a community. Laughter is community. It’s a bridge, a balm, a reminder that we’re not meant to carry everything alone. Text a friend a meme. Share a funny story. Let joy be shared today.

So, here’s the challenge: share a laugh with someone today. Connection counts. That’s it, and that’s enough for now. 💚
