The Supreme Court said there was "no question of gagging anything" or restricting the live-streaming of court proceedings, even as it raised concerns over the misuse of hearing videos for monetisation, advertising and misrepresentation. The court said some people were extracting clips for personal promotion and commercial gain, causing harm to the institution.

A bench of Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana made the observations while hearing a plea seeking restraint on the unauthorised extraction and monetisation of videos of court proceedings. It gave the Centre two weeks to file its reply and suggestions based on inputs received from different high courts, and said it would issue the necessary guidelines.

The Court noted that Mail/Express trains arriving in New Delhi and Nizamuddin Railway Stations tomorrow have been instructed to be cancelled, and 57 Delhi Metro stations are to be closed from 9 PM today. The Court observed that the "notifications are overreaching, as they impose a complete ban upon essential public transportation". Responding to the Court's observation that regulation cannot amount to complete prohibition, the Solicitor General of India assured that he will impress upon the authorities to allow the services in a regulated manner.
