I’m quitting YouTube.

I have so many thoughts on “influencing,” content creation in its various formats, the idea of online personas... If you’re interested in all of that, I just uploaded this 33-minute video about it. If not, that’s OK 😂

TL;DR is that I have loved this little project that has been central to my life for the past 6 years. I love writing scripts, planning my content strategy, editing in Final Cut, and designing thumbnails. I guess I just don’t want to be the face of it anymore :)

Figuratively, that means I don’t really want my work to be about my life anymore. But also, more literally, I don’t want to post my life *visually*. I don’t *hate* sharing certain aspects of my life online, but for the foreseeable future, I’m only going to continue writing my newsletter. I’ve always preferred long-form content to short-form, but lately I also find myself wanting to focus on words and ideas over visuals, and asynchronous sharing over real-time.

Thank you for your support over these past 6 years. It has been an incredible journey and none of the reasons for me quitting change the fun I had, the skills I learned, and the helpful content I was able to provide. LOTS OF LOVE 🫶

I had my first class today and something I was not expecting was -- how STRESSED I was that my phone, watch, or computer would make a sound 🥴 It's been a long time since I've been in a quiet room (classroom, movie theater, etc.) where I needed to put everything on silent, and I was sure SOMETHING would start ringing in the middle of the professor talking (luckily, nothing did) ...
