I had the absolute pleasure of recording this live EP with friend of the channel and good guy Ben Levin. It’s a collection of 5 songs that are all in different modes to evoke different feelings and themes, kind of sort of like Indian classical music.

Recording this EP was so much fun, and inspired me a lot. I’m so used to recording music slowly and methodically - first recording drums, then bass, then overdubbing all the layers one-by-one, getting everything perfect along the way.

This EP, on the other hand, was done with everybody in a room at the same time, and there’s a certain magic in doing it that way that can’t be captured otherwise. It requires a lot more preparation and a lot more confidence, though, but the results are worth it. It has gotten me thinking about how I want to record future Sungazer records.

Hey friends! Sungazer Plus, the Sungazer big band, is playing this July 1st and July 2nd at the Blue Note in NYC 🗽!

We’re filming both sets, so if you want to come out to the live taping and be part of the insanity, now’s your chance to get tickets.

Anyway, can’t wait to see you all out there, and remember, it’s all in 4/4.

Ahh, so cool! ‪@YogevGabay‬ did a video about some tunes off of Sungazer’s most recent record, Against the Fall of Night. I’m super honored that our music got the classic Yogev cutout/marker treatment.

Headed out west to continue Sungazer’s Against the Fall of Night Tour tomorrow!

‪@ShawnCrowder‬ and I will be joined by (Grammy-winner!) ‪@_buttonmasher‬ on keys and Jared Yee on sax. The band will play lots of notes!

We’re also going to have support from Sirintip from Dec 6-12 and ‪@EvanMarien‬ x Dana Hawkins as support from Dec 13-20. Both artists are absolutely incredible and also play a lot of notes, so if you enjoy our stuff you’re in for a treat!

I have learned so much more about music touring the past couple years than at any point before then. It has kicked my ass, kept me humble, and kept me hungry. I’m honored to have the opportunity to play with the monstrously talented musicians who have dedicated their time and craft to this music, and can’t wait to share what we have done with you all.

I’ll see you out there on the road!
