Story behind the merch 🎨📖
“It’s OK to be dramatic.” — Galaktion Tabidze Edition 🇬🇪🖤
🛍️ Available in our HodaGeorgia Etsy shop
www.etsy.com/shop/HodaGeorgia
One of our favorite HodaGeorgia designs is inspired by Galaktion Tabidze, one of Georgia’s greatest and most beloved poets. 🇬🇪🖤
His life was filled with poetry, loneliness, love, loss, trauma and tragedy. His inner world was incredibly intense, and much of that emotional darkness found its way into his poetry.
The 1930s were especially devastating. During Stalin’s Great Terror, his wife, Olga Okudzhava, was executed, leaving Galaktion to carry another enormous personal loss during one of the darkest periods of Soviet history.
He struggled with severe emotional turmoil throughout his life and made several suicide attempts.
And eventually, in 1959, while being treated in a psychiatric hospital, Galaktion died after jumping from a window.
So we created our own playful tribute to the poet of endless drama, beauty and melancholy:
“It’s OK to be dramatic.” 🖤
You can find this original Galaktion-inspired design on:
🛍️ Tote Bags
☕ Mugs — Galaktion on one side & the Georgian alphabet on the other
💄 Cosmetic Purses / Makeup Pouches
A little piece of Georgian literature, history, melancholy and humor — inspired by one of the most unforgettable figures in Georgian culture.
Perfect as a gift for someone who loves Georgia, Georgian poetry, Galaktion — or simply someone who has a tendency to make everything just a LITTLE more dramatic 🙌😎

THE STORY BEHIND OUR GEORGIAN ALPHABET MERCH 🇬🇪😍 Which one would you choose? 👀☕
Shop on Etsy www.etsy.com/shop/HodaGeorgia
The Georgian aphabet has 33 letters: 5 vowels and 28 consonants. 🔤
On our designs, the red letters are the 5 vowels, while the final letter, ჰ, is yellow simply because… well, it’s the last one. 😄
You’ll find the alphabet on our tote bags 🛍️ and coasters, keeping the design clean and minimal.
But the mugs tell a little more of a story. ☕🇬🇪
01 — Galaktioni
One side has the Georgian alphabet, and on the other, Galaktioni seems to be telling you:
“It’s okay to be dramatic.”
And honestly… coming from Galaktion, who are we to argue? 😄
02 — Akaki & Suliko
The alphabet on one side, and Akaki on the other with a little reminder:
“Keep smiling, Suliko.”
A small nod to one of the most beloved figures and songs in Georgian culture. ❤️
03 — “I’ve been to Georgia. And you?” 🏔️🇬🇪
Georgian mountains, the flag, and a question for anyone who has fallen a little bit in love with this country:
I’ve been to Georgia. And you?
04 — Georgian in a Mug ☕
This one is for anyone learning Georgian — or anyone who has ever wanted to say something in Georgian, lit practice with sip of drink 😄
It features simple, useful Georgian phrases in a little dialogue, so you can actually use what you see.
a little piece of Georgian language, culture, humor and character that you can carry with you. 🇬🇪
Whether it’s a tote bag, a coaster or a morning coffee mug — we hope it makes Georgian feel a little closer.

Story behind the merch 🎨💸 “Save Your Money — PLEASE!” — Pirosmani Edition 🇬🇪
www.etsy.com/shop/HodaGeorgia
One of our favorite HodaGeorgia designs is inspired by Niko Pirosmani, Georgia’s beloved self-taught artist. 🇬🇪🖤
Pirosmani lived a simple and often extremely poor life. He dedicated himself to painting, but during much of his life he had very little money and struggled to make a living from his art.
And then there is the famous story about the actress Marguerite. 🌹
According to the legend, Pirosmani fell deeply in love with the French actress Marguerite de Sèvres when she visited Tbilisi. The story says that he spent almost everything he had to buy enormous amounts of flowers for her — covering the street in front of her hotel with flowers. 🌹🌹🌹
Romantic? Absolutely.
Financially responsible?… Not exactly. 😂💸
The story has become part of the legend surrounding Pirosmani — a man who was perhaps much better at expressing himself through art and grand gestures than at saving money.
So we created our own playful tribute:
“Save Your Money — PLEASE!” 😄
You can find this original Pirosmani-inspired design on:
👛 Wallets / Purses
📂 Travel Document Organizers
🛍 Tote Bags
A little piece of Georgian art, history, humor and storytelling — and perhaps a gentle reminder from Pirosmani himself:
SAVE YOUR MONEY. PLEASE. 😂🇬🇪
Perfect as a gift for someone who loves Georgia, Georgian art, Pirosmani — or simply has a complicated relationship with their wallet. 😄

A hidden world beneath Rustaveli Avenue 🏛️🎬
During the ongoing reconstruction and rehabilitation works on Rustaveli Avenue, these incredible underground spaces beneath the Melik-Azaryants House have been cleared and exposed 😳
Built in 1912–1915, the complex had several underground levels, massive brick arches and passages — an extraordinary feat of engineering for its time
And yes, cinema really was part of Azaryants House 🎥 In 1915, archival records mention a 550-seat cinematograph, while the Amirani cinema later operated in the courtyard
But a small clarification: the cinema wasn’t people sitting inside these exact arches and watching a screen through the columns! 😄 The theatre/cinematograph was a separate space within the complex. These underground structures were part of the building’s larger basement system
Tbilisi really does have history hiding beneath its streets 🇬🇪🏙️🌇
You can simply visit the viewpoint📍 Melik-Azaryants House, 37 Rustaveli Avenue
