Welcome to our channel! We are K & Kira - a mother/daughter duo growing in Tennessee (zone 7b) with a love for gardening, self-sustainability, and improving our health starting with the food that we eat. We have learned that growing food doesn't have to be a burden -- it's hard work, but we ALWAYS HAVE FUN in the garden.

What have you harvested or are looking forward to harvest in the garden? How do you plan to use it?🤔
We’re incredibly blessed and grateful to harvest the fruits of our labor (and that the cabbage still grew in 90 degree weather 😅)!!!
Next stop… using and preserving the harvest ☝🏾!
Sometimes, the hardest part of growing our own food isn’t actually “growing our own food” — it’s having the willpower and knowledge to use and save our harvests in the midst of life’s other responsibilities that steer away our time and attention.
But… now more than ever, it’s extremely important to have the discipline and determination to prioritize the things that will both edify and improve our health (physically, spiritually, mentally, etc.).
So, this gardening season — and hereafter — we’re being more intentional about how we use our harvests, and we hope to share that part of our self-sufficiency journey with you all as well.
We’re all going to be accountability partners this year, ok y’all?! Let’s enjoy the fruits of our labor!✊😁
Keep Planting to Live, Y’all!!! ❤️❤️ We’ll see y’all very soon 👀

DON’T TOSS THEM OUT!
Our melon seedlings were reaching to the heavens and flopped over along their journey 😅 (we kept them on the heat mat for too long). When we first started, we would’ve tossed them out, believing that we had to start completely over.
We’ve learned that that’s not necessary!
A couple weeks ago, we repotted those leggy melon seedlings and they’re looking better than ever!
If you’re in the same predicament, feel free to check out our video on how we fixed our leggy seedlings! We hope it helps you too!

What do we have here?!?!
We went to workout and came home with vegetable and herb seeds! 😄 Our local YMCA had a lot of seeds available for gym goers to take home!
As great as this is, the YMCA is not the only place we can get free seed. Our local libraries have a seed exchange where we can ‘borrow’ vegetable, flower, and herb seeds by checking them out with our library card. Once the season is over, we harvest seeds from our garden and return them to the library (following seed harvesting protocol of course 😊). Some of the varieties we took home are new to us and we can’t wait to get them planted in our garden!!!
Have you ever checked out seeds from a library or found a local seed exchange? Share your experiences and tips in the comments below - we'd love to hear about your favorite places to find free seeds or unique varieties you've grown! 🥬🍉🌼

Hey everyone! We'll be dropping our first video from our new segment called "Sowful Seeds: Life Lessons From Plants." These motivational type of videos will be 'rare seeds' that we'll post every now and then in the midst of all of our regular gardening videos. We realize that life can be challenging and throw us curveballs, and sometimes all we need is a little motivation to help us get through the trials of life. What a great way to receive that through nature itself!
Stay tuned for our next video, "What if Resilience Is the Answer...| Grow Stronger Like Perennials," dropping at 6pm CST, and let us know what you think!
P.S. We'll be dropping a regular garden video this Thursday, so watch out for it! 👀

September just began and we’re still finding ways to use our garlic 🧄!
Whether consumed fresh, powdered, pickled, or roasted, garlic is an AMAZING (and pungent 😅) addition to any diet. Above all the delicious ways that it enhances our dishes, it should be recognized that garlic has POWERFUL medicinal properties for the human body.
In our research, we have found some of garlic’s benefits and we want to share them with you all!
Please feel free to share the ways YOU love to use garlic and any benefits that everyone should know about!!!
