தமிழ்நாட்டின் பெரிய மாநகராட்சிகளுள் மூன்றாவது பெரிய மாநகராட்சி ஆகும்.இந்தியாவின் தூய்மையான 10 நகரங்களில், திருச்சியும் ஒன்றாகும்.திருச்சி தமிழ்நாட்டின் பொறியியல் சாதனங்கள் தயாரிக்கும் முனையமாக விளங்குகிறது. 1928 ஆம் ஆண்டில் தொடர்வண்டி பணிப்பட்டறை நாகப்பட்டினத்திலிருந்து திருச்சிராப்பள்ளியின் கோல்டன் ராக் (பொன்மலை)கிற்கு மாற்றப்பட்டது. தமிழ்நாட்டின் மூன்று பட்டறைகளில் இஃது ஒன்றாகத் திகழ்கிறது.
