A timed auction allows bidders to place bids online over a set period rather than attending a live auction. Each lot displays its own closing time and the bidders may enter a single bid or leave a maximum bid, allowing the system to aucomatically bid on their behalf upto the amount specified. If a bid is placed during the final minutes the closiing time may be extended to give other biddders a fair opportunity to respond.
