So (no hate to Indonesians) Indonesians nationalists just love to use Johor-Jambi war as a respond against Malaysian nationalist editors here from what I see. They used 1673-1674 and "1680-1681" Johor-Jambi war however there is two things I wanna talk about.
The 1673-1674 is actually a victory for Johor because Johor quickly recovered and the Laksamana act as a rallying point for resistance, eventually by late 1673 Johor inflicted a resounding defeat on Jambi and by early 1674 Jambi is left with no allies to assist while facing multiple Johorese assaults. Yes I know Batu Sawar was sacked by the Jambians in the early war, but the second war is a victory for Johor with heavy losses.
1680-1681 war between Johor and Jambi never happened at all because in this period it was Johor and Jambi + Dutch working together against Palembang and Makassarese allies, not Johor, Palembang and Bugis against Jambi with Dutch help. This can easily be debunked even wihout looking at outside wikipedia sources, like Andaya Leonard. Take a look on Ibrahim Shah of Johor page in Wikipedia, where it stated Johor assisted Jambi now its vassal against Palembang and it's Bugis allies. If we look at references/outside Wikipedia sources it'll be even clearer. Take a look on The Kingdom Of Johor 1641-1728 - Leonard Y. Andaya for example, one of the sources the Wikipage Johor-Jambi war used, it clearly stated Jambi called upon his arch-enemy, Johor on 12 December 1680 to help save his country from Palembang and Makassarese. Also according to Johor-Jambi wars Wikipage once again, Daeng Mangika was k!lled by Jambi but is this true? According to Andaya Leonard once again, The Johorese then fired and k!lled him (Daeng Mangika). Lastly the wikipage also claimed the Dutch support Jambi against Johor but is this true? No. According to Andaya Leonard once again, The Dutch voiced their support of Johor.
