How exactly, you may be wondering? By making easy to intermediate tutorials for new or experienced Fortnite Creators to follow to improve their islands. I also keep you updated on the news surrounding FNC and UEFN.

Beyond tutorials, I’m the creator behind Dreamlands and Dreamlands 2 with unique characters like Joe, a humble pizza extraordinaire, and Kreply, a curious pawnshop owner. Dreamlands is a large-scale Fortnite Creative/UEFN story-driven map series. It blends cinematic storytelling, exploration, and combat with a unique lore players unravel as they progress. Dreamlands isn’t just a map, it’s a narrative experience with custom environments, dialogue, and mechanics that push UEFN beyond its limits.

After a credit heist gone bad, the Empire, the Hutts, and every bounty hunter in the galaxy are hunting you. The choices you make shape how you escape.

Should be releasing tomorrow! May 2nd! Takes about 1-2 hours to complete. 1-4 players. You'll need to play it multiple times to see everything.😉

I was going to get it out for today, but I think it needs a tiny bit more time to weed out bugs etc, in the meantime, here's some screenshots!

Sorry guys! I don't have the time to cover today's update as I need to get my Star Wars game done. But here's a recap of everything new in the 40.30 update!

- 🌌 STAR WARS Islands Go Live in Fortnite on May 1

- Disguise Kit and Air Strike Items for Star Wars.
"Further develop the theme of your experience with the Disguise Kit and Air Strike items in the Star Wars feature set. Players can add the following disguises to their inventory and decide when to transform"

"Tomorrow's the day! Starting May 1, you can publish Fortnite islands featuring Star Wars™-themed assets. Head over to the Creator Portal to submit your island if you haven't already scheduled it to go live. "
- STAR WARS Verse API Is No Longer Experimental, I know people had errors with not being able to publish their map publicly, but you should now be able to.

Also sign of First Person support for Star Wars. Epic said they should be adding it before May 1st, but it doesn't seem like it, unless they have but never mentioned it.

- ⭐Multistage Dynamic XP Calibration
"Starting in v40.30, XP Calibration is moving to a more flexible multistage system.
Instead of waiting to fully calibrate before earning accolade XP, your island now moves through stages—shifting gradually from playtime XP toward accolade XP as more data is evaluated.

Smaller islands can now earn some accolade XP before reaching full calibration, and if XP balance falls out of range, your island moves back stages in the process rather than pausing accolade XP grants entirely. " (very nice!)

- 🚗Rocket Racing Tools
New Rocket Racing devices are now available outside of the Rocket Racing island template, enabling you to build racing experiences directly within standard Fortnite Creative and UEFN workflows. These devices include:

Rocket Racing Vehicle Spawner (Creative & UEFN)

- 📱Unreal Engine Remote is Now Available on iOS, Android Coming Soon

- 🧱New LEGO® Assets

- Players can now tap into their inner balance and release the ultimate attack, Spinjitsu! This item is usable as long as it is in the player inventory. It is mapped to the dodge button (Ctrl by default), and will run as long as the player has stamina available.

- New LEGO® NINJAGO® Weapons
- The Katana: Slice past your opponents with the LEGO Katana. This weapon has access to a 6-hit combination attack.
The Scythe: Harvest eliminations with the new scythe weapon and unleash a large AOE attack!

Update for Star Wars islands. You are now able to add In-Island transactions. (with a few limits)

"You can now add in-island transactions to your STAR WARS islands before publishing opens on May 1, giving you more options for monetising your experiences.

Your STAR WARS island must follow the Fortnite Developer Rules as well as the updated STAR WARS Brand Rules – which now includes new guidelines and payout terms for in-island transactions."

This is the first IP to allow this. I'd expect more to come, but it's up to the IP holders (Netflix for KPOP, Skybound for Walking Dead Universe, and so on) to decide for themselves.

There are a lot of limits though, here's the rule straight out of the brand rules.

Use Star Wars Assets provided to you in UEFN in your thumbnails and lobby backgrounds, so long as your use complies with these Star Wars Brand Rules and the Developer Agreements.

Unless included in the Star Wars Assets, use any names, images or likenesses of any Star Wars or Disney actor’s, employees, or representatives, or any other images designed to evoke them, in the thumbnail, lobby background, description, videos, promotional material for your Star Wars Island, or any In-Island Transactions.

Claim or imply that your Star Wars Island or any In-Island Transactions are affiliated with or endorsed by Disney or the Star Wars brand.

UPDATE ON UNITY IN FORTNITE'S ECOSYSTEM!

Tim Sweeney (CEO of Epic) updated us on twitter about it, he said in response to ‪@TomJanky‬ ,

"It’s in development but isn’t nearing release yet.

It’s not pixel streaming. Rather, it’s a gameplay networking protocol designed by Unity (resembling the ones existing in engines already) that downloads some content prior to starting, then runs most gameplay logic on the server, and then simulates and predicts frames on the player’s machine to compensate for latency and run at full frame rate.

The initial version will be aimed at running compatible reasonably-small, self-contained Unity games, then will scale up from there. It will go through a similar moderation pipeline. We expect localization will be by the developer (rather than automated), an option we hope to support in UEFN by the time of launch.

UEFN features are expanding over time too. I recommend building today with the tools available today, and evaluating as the new options and features come online."

Tim also mentioned later in replies that cosmetics should be available too eventually!

"We aim for this to be an option (not all Unity games would make sense with interoperable cosmetics) but we aren’t sure about timing."

And a Epic dev named Marcus Wassmer clarified that Unity games will be included in the payout system + support in game transactions.

"The plan of record here is that games in the creator economy play by the same set of rules regardless of which toolset was used to create them (UEFN, FN Creative, Unity). So, yes to being part of the engagement payout, and yes to 'the' in-island transaction system."

So key takeaways,
- It is not streaming, you download and run the game while the server handles core logic.
- It will only support smaller Unity games at first, AND of course expand into the future
- It is still early in development and not close to release. So I'd say don't expect it this year.
- This will not replace UEFN, it will exist alongside it (if it wasn't obvious)
- Cosmetics are planned to be supported (but no timeline)
- Unity games are included in the engagement payout pool + support in game transactions.

CUSTOM ITEMS & INVENTORIES should be out of experimental next update! (v40.20) on April 16th, meaning you will be able to finally publish with the feature enabled!

Keep in mind, this is ITEMS, not weapons. Custom weapons are coming, hopefully this year in Q3. The roadmap says it's Confidence: Medium, so it COULD slip to Q4. Hopefully it doesn't 💀
