Well...here's the 3rd anniversary to the BassMonkey channel! I still can't believe all the love, appreciation and support I keep getting from you all. I can't believe that nearing 4.000 subscribers I have over 1.1 million views across all my videos - that is almost 20 times the amount of people that live in my city!? It's insane. Thank you all so much for being awesome <3!!

Hey all! Today I got a message from YouTube that the bass backing track of Bryan Adams' Summer of 69 was deleted from my channel by the request of the copyright holder (the record company). This also came with a first copyright strike against my channel, which means that if I get two more strikes, my channel will be deleted from YouTube.

I've removed the cover version from my channel myself since I feel leaving it up is just waiting for another strike to happen. Going forward I'm going to have to be a bit pickier about what songs I'm going to do. It sucks, I think it's dumb since artists actually make money from covers, but ultimately, they're in the right to block or delete any cover they want.

Today is exactly one year ago I started this bass cover journey! Back then, I wondered "I wish I could do something in return for Youtube bassists community who helped me learn to play bass and for all the work they put into it" so I decided I wanted to try to upload covers of songs I enjoy to spread the joy of music and bass, no matter what genre or (lack of) skill level. The cynical part of me expected mean comments, the realistic part of me hoped for a few 100 views and sub or two.

One year later, as I write this now, I have 1078 subs and over 223.000 views. My mind can't comprehend it, but my heart thankfully can. I'm just a silly old doofus in an old room, playing and uploading covers, which are viewed by people from all over the world.

So in short: thank you, from the bottom of my heart. Thank you, each and everyone of you who watched, liked, replied, subbed but most of all enjoyed my videos. You lot are amazing and I'm humbled and amazed at your support. Thank you! <3
