Pahalgam New Year Celebration & Winter Festival 2025.
The Pahalgam New Year Celebration and Winter Festival 2025, as in previous years, commenced on 25 December and the events organized with the participation of local associations concluded today on 30 December. A grand finale event will be held tomorrow, to be organized by Jammu & Kashmir Tourism, Pahalgam.
Today’s event, hosted by the Pahalgam Hotel and Guest House Owners Association (PHGA) in collaboration with the Pahalgam Development Authority (PDA) and the Tourism Department, Pahalgam, was truly vibrant, charming, and highly successful.
A large number of people visited the venue throughout the day and actively participated in the celebrations.
A special highlight of the event was the local musical band led by Parvaiz Malik, which delivered an outstanding performance and captivated the audience.
Traditional Kashmiri kehwa was served, while Punjabi Rasoi Pahalgam provided delicious food and other arrangements.
The dedicated members of the Association took care of the guests throughout the day. Prominent among them were Mushtaq Pahalgami (President, PHGA), Mohd Amin Rather (Bitu Peer) , Bilal Ahmad Magrey, Gulzar Ahmad Malik, Showkat Ahmad Bhat, Mohd Iqbal Bhat, Jagjeet Singh Ji , Gurpriya Sahiba Ji, Mehraj Ahmad Rather, and many others.
During the conclusion session, the presence of Mr. Nasur -ul-Hilal Sahib (CEO, Pahalgam Development Authority), Mr. Nisar Ahmad Awan Sahib (Tehsildar, Pahalgam), and Mr. Mir Bilal Ahmad Sahib (ADT Tourism, Pahalgam) further enhanced the grandeur of the event. They were warmly felicitated with traditional Kashmiri Kangris by the Pahalgam Hotel and Guest House Owners Association.
Additionally, several tourists were presented with traditional Kashmiri Kangris as tokens of love, which they greatly appreciated and took along as memorable souvenirs.
It is noteworthy that from 25 December to today, local associations have worked tirelessly, resulting in an unprecedented tourist rush in Pahalgam.
Due to this overwhelming response, accommodation is in extremely high demand, with rooms becoming difficult to find in pahalgam these days ,and encouraging and positive sign that has brought happiness and optimism to everyone.
In his address, Mushtaq Pahalgami appealed to people across the country to visit Kashmir in large numbers and extend their full support and cooperation in reviving and boosting tourism in Kashmir.
Thank you

Laripora Village is not only part of the Municipal Committee Pahalgam but also falls under the jurisdiction of the Pahalgam Development Authority (PDA). It is a densely populated area where a large number of people reside. However, when we talk about development especially village paths, lanes, and drainage there is a severe state of neglect visible throughout the entire village.
There are neither proper pathways nor basic civic facilities, and unfortunately, both concerned departments, the PDA and the Municipal Committee, appear to be unwilling to undertake any meaningful development work.
Although I have repeatedly raised these issues with the concerned departments regarding this village as well as other villages, their response has largely remained indifferent, except for a few isolated locations.
The MLA from Pahalgam also received a significant number of votes from this village, yet he too has failed to deliver justice to the people here. Both the PDP and the Apni Party secured votes from this area, but neither of these parties has raised or succeeded in resolving the issues faced by the residents of these villages in our region.
We have previously made every possible effort to raise these matters, and I will continue to intensify my efforts in the future to ensure that our people receive justice and their rightful dues.
I once again appeal to the Municipal Committee Pahalgam and the Pahalgam Development Authority to urgently take steps to repair and improve the dilapidated infrastructure in these villages, particularly in Laripora.
Thank you

Today was our second day at Jashn e Rekhta , and it was truly enjoyable.
Yesterday, we attended the inaugural session where we saw and heard Javed Akhtar, Gulzar, and the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Vinai Kumar Saxena Ji . After that, we enjoyed the musical performance by Sukhwinder Ji.
Today, on the second day, we had the opportunity to listen to several renowned poets including Javed Akhtar and Waseem Barelvi.
In the evening, we enjoyed performances by prominent artists such as Salim Sulaiman, Raj Pandita Ji , and many others.
The entire day remained wonderfully busy and enriching.
We experienced Urdu, culture, food, and the spirit of India closely because today it felt as if the whole of Hindustan had come together at Jashn-e-Rekhta.
Tomorrow is the third and final day, and we hope it will be the best and most joyful one.
The day after tomorrow, we will depart from Delhi and head back home. Inshallah
Thank you

Dear Parents, Assalam Alaikum,
As we all know, it is good if people in our upper belt of pahalgam build houses etc when they truly need them.
A home is a necessity for every family. But if someone spends a large amount of money on construction beyond their needs and does not invest in their children’s education, then this becomes injustice and inequality.
In today’s world, if we leave our children with only basic or average education, they will not be able to compete in the future.
I request all parents to take serious steps toward providing better education for their children.
Arrange good coaching for them, spend a little on their learning especially on quality coaching.
This investment will benefit both you and your children, and it will also bring you reward (sawab).
Tomorrow, these same children will compete successfully in different fields.
If we look at Upper Pahalgam, we hardly find any good coaching centres, especially during winter.
Therefore, I request students and their parents to consider enrolling their children in better coaching centres in Anantnag or other nearby places.
Even if they cannot continue the whole year, at least enrol them for the winter season so that they can receive better guidance.
This will help them build a strong foundation.
For all students studying in Classes 9, 10, 11, and 12, my sincere advice is not to waste time.
Step out of home, seek quality education, and secure a better future. In today’s competitive world, average education is not enough.
You must aim for better learning so that your future is bright and strong.
If any parent needs help or support regarding this matter, please feel free to contact me and kindly share this message widely so that more parents become aware and take the necessary steps to provide the best education to their children.
With Regards,
Mushtaq Pahalgami.

Double-Storey Schools A Smart Step Toward Better Education Spaces.
Under the Samagra and allied schemes, the authority and School Education Department, J&K, under district capex budget has sanctioned three additional rooms for Government High School Lidroo, and tenders have already been invited by PWD Divsion Pahalgam.
While this is a welcome move to ease classroom shortage and benefit students, I sincerely request the department to focus on constructing double-storey or multi-storey school buildings instead of scattered single rooms especially in areas where land is scarce and expensive.
In hilly and densely populated regions like Lidroo, the school often operates on limited or even rented land. Building horizontally occupies the remaining open space that students need for playgrounds and outdoor activities.
Double storey structure is the best way forward it saves land, ensures better infrastructure, and creates more space for children’s learning and growth.
If suitable government land is available at Lidroo which the land has already occupied by the same education department as per reports near the existing Government High School Lidroo, constructing proper new structures there would be ideal.
It will provide a stable, comfortable, and child-friendly environment something also highlighted in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
I hope the authorities take this suggestion for serious consideration for the benefit of our students and the future of education in our region.
Thank you

Library & Coffee Corner in Pahalgam Work Resumes After Long Delay.
After our struggle and efforts again , work on the library, reading room, and coffee shop has finally resumed once again here at pahalgam . This time, we hope that the contractor will not abandon the work midway.
Let me remind you that this project was proposed in 2020 under the “My Town My Pride” initiative on our recommendation.
The main objective was to establish a well-equipped library, reading space, and coffee shop in Pahalgam a place where local people, students, and tourists could come to relax, read books, and learn more about our region, culture and heritage .
The project was expected to have a positive impact on the overall development and cultural activities of the area. However, even after five long years of its sanction, the work has not been completed yet , and it’s still uncertain how much longer it will take.
Nonetheless, since the work has resumed today again , we sincerely hope that the Municipal Committee Pahalgam and the PWD Pahalgam will ensure its early and complete execution this time......InshaAllah.
Thank you
