Just a small but significant milestone on the old YouTube journey! πͺπ»πͺπ»πͺπ» As always, many thanks to all you lovely humans that continue to support my little corner of the internet. Although some days can feel like I'm tumbleweed floating through a universe of guitar tutorials, I often receive some truly humbling comments which make it all worthwhile! πΈ

New Josh Smith style solo up on YT: https://youtu.be/9CsqdWrRq7c
I had planned on doing a proper walkthrough as he's such a monster of a player and uses such great ideas, but a fire alarm down the road going off all day put paid to that... Now I'm away gigging - maybe if there's interest I'll do a part 2 when I'm back!
I've also recently been trying out the Dunlop Jazztone 207 pick, so I'll thought I'd try it out on this track - it's a bit of a beast and much thicker than I'm used to (2.0mm!). Faster articulation - not so sure yet, but it sounds great! I'll try out the 208 which has a more pointed tip. Loving the feel and sound so far - maybe I'll be a convert!

It's been a busy week at Tiny Monkey studios - one video lesson in the bag ready for pre-Christmas guitar shenanigans and I also had the absolute pleasure of welcoming the amazing John Wheatcroft to the podcast. He's an absolute monster player and the most articulate and knowledgable guitarist I know. He did loads of amazing playing, sharing his ridiculous knowledge of outside playing, theory, practice, jazz phrasing and more. This will blow your minds! π€―

Is this the best drive pedal? Without doubt it's the best one I've ever owned - so much so that I haven't bought another one in over 3 years - that's a new record! π What's yours?

So.....I had a little chat the other day with my good friend Jim Clark - he's a fabulous rock guitar player and teacher here in the UK, and he has recently brought out an eBook on how he visualises the fretboard. I thought I might turn it into a podcast - not sure if this'll turn into a regular thing, but who knows! I really enjoyed talking (sometimes ranting!) about modern students, social media, learning licks vs digging deeper and much much more. If I do it again I'll sort out the slightly scuzzy video and quiet guitar sounds, so be gentle!

Little sneak peak of a lesson I was recording last week. Anyone who's followed my channel knows I'm a massive Robben Ford fan, and I'll be looking at his use of the beautiful Lydian Dominant scale within a minor blues - extremely excited for this one as it's probably my favourite Robben outside sound! Just the small matter of editing down over an hour of footage into something more manageable... π π±π€―

What a night! Well Scott Henderson did not disappoint - tone as wide as a house and some incredible playing - great to see the master in action! πΈπͺπΌπ
