Northern Lights in the UK again!
Snapped these just after 10:15pm last night on the LincolnshireāNottinghamshire border.
A strong geomagnetic storm meant the aurora was visible much further south than usual. You could see it with the naked eye, but as always, the camera picked up way more colour and detail than we could see in person.
This stunning display was due to the Sun nearing its solar maximum, the peak of its 11-year activity cycle. During this period, the Sun emits more solar flares and coronal mass ejections, which can lead to increased auroral activity even in regions like ours.
Still, amazing to witness it right here in the UK!
