Why would someone want to work for you?
Do you want someone who just wants a job - or as a startup founder / entrepreneur do you want something more from your hires?

It takes a lot to build a business:
- Product research and development
- Marketing strategies
- Sales strategies
- Customer service
- And more!

But one strategic place a lot of startup founders and entrepreneurs miss is developing their Culture Strategy.

If you want to build a team with:
- top talent
- that will stick with you long-term
- be a dream team member (and not a nightmare to manage)

You need to know what your company culture is, so that you know who fits and who doesn’t.

A lot of people might be able to “do the job” - but attracting the RIGHT people is all about culture.

As a startup founder or entrepreneur, you will need a team at some point - when will you know it’s time to make your first hire?

Startup founders and entrepreneurs need their early team members to work together to really move the needle and accelerate growth. 📈

When you hire the first people into your company, it will just be a set of individuals.

To achieve teamwork, you also have to create a team.

People who can:
✅ Know when it’s their turn to lead and when to follow
✅ Contribute to building up an idea together
✅ Be motivated to persevere when challenges arise

Teams can only do this when they understand your vision.

You give your team the vision and clarity about WHY what they are doing matters.

Building a team can be hard while you’re also building your business.

The #1 mistake startup founders and entrepreneurs make with their first hire is to hire themselves. 🪞

It’s really important to look for fit when you’re hiring.

So it’s tempting to think that if someone is like you, they will be a good fit.

This is correct from a values perspective - they should want the same things you want and be comfortable working in the style you setup for your company.

But it’s a huge swing and a miss to hire someone exactly like you - they will reinforce some of the best parts of you, but you’ll both have the same blindspots and weaknesses.

Find the people who complement you - they will bring a lot of needed perspective to your business.

How I changed the best part of my career into a business

Mentoring and coaching the next generation of leaders has been a passion of mine since I started leading teams.

Having been to the top of the marketing mountain,

I wanted to focus on creating something that would help start-up founders and entrepreneurs get off on the right foot.

There are lots of resources on marketing strategies so to help the next gen leaders, business owners, founders and entrepreneurs

I wanted to help them build and lead their dream teams.

How to identify a great hire?
And likewise, how to avoid the nightmares of a bad hire?
How to go from being a solo owner-operator to an owner-leader with a team?
How to become a leader of your business and your team?
How to retain amazing talent once you’ve got it?

So we started Trybe Inc

It’s been a journey to get here!

But we couldn’t be more excited to be helping with these pivotal transition periods of business for new startup founders and entrepreneurs!

Startup founders and entrepreneurs may think that strategies are the most important part of business, but they’re not.

The most important part is people.

You may think - “That can’t be true because I don’t even have a team yet!”

But YOU are the first person in your business!

Without you
Without your vision
Without your perseverance
There would be no company.

You have been the one all along who has been implementing the strategies.

And as you build your team, they will also be the ones making the strategies work.

Strategies are very important but people are MOST important.

Are you ready to build a team and new team members the most important part of your business?

If you’re only looking for people who “fit” the job description, you’re doing this wrong…

When it comes time for startup founders and entrepreneurs to be bringing people in for the first time, there are FOUR types of fit to look for:

1. The Task List - do they have the skills to do the job? (But this is the easiest part to train so might be the least important!)

2. Expectations - do they see the role and its potential growth the same way you do?

3. Compensation - obviously, there needs to be agreement here

4. Values + Vision Alignment - do they care about what your company vision is and do their values match yours

You don’t want people who are applying just to get any job but actually fit with what your company does and how it works on the inside.

There may be many candidates that can “do the job”

And you know what you expect and can pay

We can help you with the most important part of strategizing how to find who will want to be with you for the long-term and integrate well in your company
