Many people think love means feeling good about someone. So when that person hurts them, they believe the love is gone.

But love can be deeper than a feeling.

You can love people without agreeing with them. You can forgive someone without allowing them to hurt you again. You can create distance without filling your heart with hate.

Love means choosing not to let another person’s actions decide what kind of person you become.

You cannot control what happens around you. But you can choose what happens within you.

Keep your heart open. Not because everyone will treat you well, but because you do not want the world to take your ability to love away from you.

When someone hurts you, it is easy to say, “I will never love again.” But this gives someone else control over your heart.

Love is not only about romance. Love is a way of living. It means you can forgive without forgetting, set boundaries without becoming hateful, and walk away without closing your heart.

People may change. Situations may change. Life may hurt you. But you do not have to become less loving because of it.

When you keep your heart open, you are choosing who you want to be instead of letting the world decide for you.

Most of what you call “me” was learned.

Your family taught you things. School taught you things. Your culture, friends, experiences, successes, and failures all left memories in your mind.

Over time, you began using those memories to decide what you like, what you fear, what you believe, and how you see the world.

But you are not every thought you have. You are the awareness that can notice those thoughts.

When you become aware of what has shaped you, you gain the ability to choose. Instead of letting yesterday decide how you live today, you can consciously create who you want to become.

Your mind is constantly using the past to understand what is happening now.

What you have seen, heard, felt, tasted, and experienced becomes stored in your memory. Later, your mind uses those memories to decide what something means, whether something feels safe, and how you should respond.

This is why two people can experience the same thing and see it completely differently. They are looking through different memories.

The important question is not whether your memories are useful. They are. The question is whether you realize that they are shaping the way you see life.

It’s not that everyone begins life with the same opportunities. People are born into different families, environments, and circumstances.

What the quote points to is responsibility.

Two people can experience hardship, but respond to it differently. Over time, the choices they make, the habits they build, the skills they learn, and the actions they repeat begin to shape their lives.

Many successful people are willing to say, “My choices helped create where I am.”

Many struggling people may place all of the responsibility outside themselves and miss the areas where they still have the power to act.

Life is never completely in our control, and it is never completely outside our control.

Wisdom is learning to focus less on what happened to you and more on what you can do with what has been given to you.

First look at the official stills and cinematography from my latest short film “THE INFLUENCER IN ATLANTIC CITY.”

A New York food influencer is sent to Atlantic City to convince a man who has spent three months locked inside a hotel room to leave, but as he follows the man’s unusual itinerary, he discovers that the person who needs to escape may be himself.

Swipe through all 20 slides to see the progression of the story. Comment below and let me know which frame or shot is your favorite.

Your attention is like a flashlight. Wherever you point it, that is what you see more clearly.

If you keep pointing it at problems, drama, other people’s lives, and things that do not matter to your goals, you slowly lose sight of where you are going.

Focus does not mean you never get distracted. It means you notice the distraction and choose to return to what matters.

A successful life is not built by paying attention to everything.

It is built by knowing what deserves your attention and giving it there consistently.

Most people read a book and forget it in a week. A few books do not let you forget them. They rewire something.

The Four Agreements is one of those books for me. It is short. Don Miguel Ruiz does not waste a single page on decoration. He hands you four rules and then shows you, again and again, how almost everything painful in your life traces back to breaking one of them without knowing it.

I am not going to summarize the book here. I already did that across ten slides. What I want you to understand is why it worked on me.

Every one of these ten lessons points to the same root problem. You are running on beliefs, assumptions, and reactions that were never actually yours. Someone handed them to you, or you built them by accident, and you have been obeying them like law ever since. The book does not ask you to become a different person. It asks you to stop and look at what you already believe, and ask if it is even true.

That looking is meditation. Not sitting cross legged with your eyes closed for an hour. Just the simple, uncomfortable act of watching your own mind instead of being dragged by it. Every agreement in this book only works if you actually do that looking. Read the words without it, and they are just nice sentences. Do the looking, and they become tools. #thefouragreements

Your mind is like a pair of glasses. Everything you experience passes through the lens you are looking through.

The problem is that many people never choose their lens. Their beliefs are shaped by their parents, teachers, culture, experiences, fears, and the people around them.

Then they grow up believing, “This is just who I am.”

But it does not have to stay that way.

You can question the beliefs you inherited. You can decide which ideas help you grow and which ones hold you back. You can change the way you think by becoming more aware of why you think the way you do.

You may not have chosen the mind you started with.

But you can choose what you put into it from this point forward.

Your mindset shapes how you see life.

Build it with intention.
