Quick note to @ShiksaWithChutzpah1: I am listening to the WQXR stream and the "Romeo and Juliet Suite No. 2 Op. 64b" by Sergei Prokofiev came up. And that reminded me it was the theme for that '70s BBC series "The Commanders". And when that occurs, I still think about hearing part of it for the first time many years ago. It's those small details that tend to stick with me many years later.
A quick memo to Ray Glasser @videoholicreturns@videoholic2000s : I have just started watching the “Search” series, starting with the pilot which used the “Probe” name before changing it as it got picked up as a regular series.
By the time you are out of bed on Tuesday morning (February 25), I will have posted the first 3 episodes of "Writer's Realm", a 1987 educational series consisting of 15 episodes in total, over at archive dot org. The plan is to have the entire series posted by the end of Friday night. Stay tuned.
This is a "future considerations" idea to @ShiksaWithChutzpah1 - if only there were someone who would be "in the neighborhood/area" of sorts and that person had working video recorders to do any necessary dubs. Of course, I wouldn't be it as I'm quite a long distance out, and I don't have any Betamax machines anyway. Generally speaking, nearest Betamax user to me is in Nova Scotia. (The one non-VHS tape I did have was sent off to be dubbed years ago and I received a few copies on DVD of what was dubbed.)
I'm not sure if @ShiksaWithChutzpah1 still checks out YouTube at all despite not posting in years, but I do have to inquire about the Cinema 13 stuff from 1981, notably about inquiring if it might be possible at all to upgrade the quality of the excerpts posted long ago. I am interested in seeing that happen, but I know it's also possible what I have typed here might not get far, in a way.
Something I want to see if @wmbrown6 knows about - it involves the TV cameras used by Radio-Canada in Montreal in the late '60s, for I had a chance to look at a couple of episodes of Les belles histoires des pays d'en haut at the end of a free preview of ICI ARTV (increasing my count of surviving color episodes from 56 as of a few years ago to 58, with two more to get in a future free preview). The quality of the picture looked good considering it was a 1960s production that had made the jump to color during 1967, so I wonder which manufacturer's cameras were used then. Or anyone with a knowledge of @RadioCanada history might help me out? Was it RCA? Norelco? Something else?
Uploaded to archive dot org: "Eight is Enough: A Family Reunion", originally aired October 18, 1987 on NBC, and shown on TNN on July 25, 2000: https://archive.org/details/eight-is-enough-a-family-reunion-1987-10-18
