The IJGT began with the sole purpose of providing a means for junior golfers to gain competitive experience. In its first year of operation, the IJGT held a total of eight regional events. The IJGT quickly developed into the second most recognized junior tour and the only one to offer events every weekend during the school year. By 2009, the IJGT was conducting over 60 events each year.
Now in its 20th year, the 2014-15 season will feature 60 events at the finest venues in the US, as well as a few tournaments abroad. There are over 2,000 junior golfers who compete on the IJGT, representing 45 states and over 43 countries.
In addition to competing for individual trophies, IJGT players can build their national junior status and earn exemptions to some of the most prestigious amateur events in the country including but not limited to the Players Amateur, the Junior Heritage, the Callaway Golf Junior World Golf Championships and many more.
