The Pastoral Farmer

Jeremiah 1:19 (ESV)
“They will fight against you, but they shall not prevail against you, for I am with you, declares the Lord, to deliver you.”
God never promised you or me an easy life. Conflict will come. Trouble will find us. In the verses leading up to this promise, Jeremiah is called to speak God’s truth—boldly, against the powers of his day. He faced fierce opposition. Hostile enemies. Yet God’s command was clear: stand firm.
God left Jeremiah no room for excuses. “Do not say, ‘I am only a youth’...” “Do not be afraid of them.” Why? Because God was with him. Jeremiah’s strength wasn’t his own—it was God’s presence. Without faith, he’d be shattered, overwhelmed by fear. But with God, he was unstoppable. God would deliver him.
The world will fight against you too. It will try to silence God’s Word. But hear this: Immanuel—God is with you. His presence is your strength. Your faith is unshakable because He never leaves you. So live by faith.
When life feels bleak, live by faith. This world will always fall short, always disappoint. But for those who believe, eternity is promised. They can kill the body, but never the soul. So stay obedient. Go where God sends you. Proclaim His truth boldly.
I feel so inadequate sometimes. The wolves are at the door, growling. But I must stay faithful. It’s not about me—it’s Christ living through me. He’s gone ahead to prepare a place for me. As 1 Corinthians 15:58 reminds us, “Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.”

5 or maybe 6 books that topped my list for the year. No particular order because they come from a variety of schools of thought. In this digital age - hey I love my smart TV - isn't nice still to feel the paper of a "real" book. We should be encouraging people to read. And especially our youth. I try to average one non-fiction book a month. So I'm not lighting the world on fire but it's a goal that doesn't feel like work. Usually for something to be enjoyable we need to eliminate stressful pressure. So pick up a book and turn the page. AND hey tell me what you've read or plan to read.
