Over the years, I’ve owned a lot of AVRs and processors. Like a whole lot. LOL.

I started with receivers from Pioneer (Dolby Pro-Logic), Onkyo, Yamaha, Denon, and yes… even Harman Kardon back when they were making AVRs. 😄

Later, I moved into separates with processors from Emotiva, Marantz, and Anthem.

Out of everything I’ve owned, I thoroughly enjoyed my Marantz AV7705 and AV7706. They were rock solid, bug-free, and just sounded great.

After owning four consecutive Marantz products, I decided to try something completely different with the Anthem AVM 70.

Getting the AVM 70 dialed in definitely took more work, but once it was tuned, it sounds incredible.

That said, now that Marantz offers Dirac Live with Bass Control, my curiosity got the best of me.

So… I bought a Marantz AV 30.

I’m really excited to put it through its paces, compare it to my AVM 70, and share what I find.

Question for you guys:

If you had to choose right now, would you go with Anthem AVM 70 or Marantz AV 30, and why?

For me, home theater has never been just about bigger screens, better audio, or higher performance gear.

It’s about creating a space where my family can disconnect from the distractions of the world and reconnect with each other.

Some of our favorite memories have come from simply sitting together in our theater room, watching a movie, laughing through a sitcom, or sharing an experience that pulls us into an amazing story.

That’s what I shared in this collaboration with ‪@JVCAmerica‬.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to partner with a brand that understands home theater isn’t just about technology, it’s about the experiences and memories we create with the people we love.

If you’ve ever experienced that feeling, you know exactly what I mean.

And if you’re looking to connect with other local enthusiasts who share that same passion, check out communityav.com/ .

I’m excited to share that CommunityAV has added two more iconic brands to the website.

I’m very intentional about the brands I choose to partner with. If it’s on the site, it’s because I believe in the company, the products, and the value they bring to our community.

Over the years, I’ve personally owned several Denon and Marantz products, and I recently purchased the Marantz AV 30 for my own theater room. These are brands I know well and genuinely feel confident recommending.

These new additions bring even more options for home theater, 2-channel audio, and streaming solutions.

Not sure what’s best for your room, setup, or budget? That’s exactly what I’m here for.

I’m so grateful for my children. Being a father has made me a better person. I’m far from perfect but each day I’m learning how to love as Jesus loves. Happy Father’s Day!

The day before his trip to Florida, Kevis from ‪@KevisFilms‬ reached out to see if he could come by to demo my home theater. At first, I kindly declined as my father had passed away the day before.

Fortunately, my wife convinced me I should as it would give me an opportunity to get my mind focused on something that brings me incredible joy...being with others from home theater community.

It was truly a pleasure to meet and hang out with Kevis, provide some demos and even talk YouTube.

In his video, he shares his first experience of JVC & JTR, what it's like sitting 9' from a 150" diagonal image and even shared how the JVC NZ800 compares with his XGIMI Titan Noir and JTR to his PSA.

I'm truly grateful for people like Kevis who are having a positive impact on the home theater community. Show him some love by subscribing to his channel.

I had a great time with Bill Murphy from ‪@InsideTheHomeTheater‬ as we discussed the state of Home Theater, best practices and the launch of CommunityAV.

I appreciate how he wasn't afraid to ask the tough questions.

‪@kaleidescape‬ just announced the new Strato K, their first player capable of native 8K playback, along with a new 4K Cinematic™ format. The new player is priced at $4,995.

Check out the full details:

While 8K is cool, that's not the part that has me excited.

What I'm really interested in is the new 4K Cinematic™ format.

Kaleidescape says it offers higher bitrates, more color information, and significantly larger file sizes than their current 4K downloads. Some titles could be nearly twice the size of the versions available today.

Will it actually look better? I have no idea yet.

But as someone who watches movies on a 150" screen, I'm definitely curious to see if there's a noticeable improvement compared to the current downloads available on my Strato C.

If there is, the new 4K Cinematic format might end up being a bigger deal than 8K itself.

I'm also glad to see Kaleidescape finally move to a 4K user interface instead of the 1080p UI found on the Strato V and Strato E.

The Strato K includes a 1TB SSD, so it can be used as a standalone player. You can also pair it with a Terra movie server for additional storage and whole-home playback.

The other interesting part is the pricing.

The Strato K comes in at $4,995, while the Strato V has been reduced to $3,990.

That puts about a $1,000 gap between them.

If you don't care about 8K, the Strato V might be the better value. But if the new 4K Cinematic format delivers a noticeable bump in picture quality, I can see some enthusiasts making the jump to the Strato K.

You can view and order all Kaleidescape products at communityav.com/collections/kaleidescape

What are your thoughts on the Strato K?
