Hi, I’m Brittanie! I’m a health coach and nutritionist and I help people with Irritable Bowel Syndrome and other digestive issues reduce their symptoms and change their lives through dietary and lifestyle modification. I, too, suffered from debilitating IBS and Fibromyalgia for many years. As my health deteriorated, my life became increasingly small. I had so many non-specific symptoms and had no idea where to start. I decided to focus on my diet and OH MY GOD that changed everything! Now I live a fairly normal life. I am able to work and have a social life, I am no longer afraid of food, and I have a much better relationship and appreciation for body once I learned how to care for her. This channel is my attempt to share what I have learned on my journey: diet, supplements, lifestyle, mindset - everything you need to improve your digestive health and GET YOUR LIFE BACK. Subscribe to my channel and come along on a digestive journey with me! #lowfodmaprecipes #ibsdiet #guthealth
Grit and Groceries
The holidays are upon us once again, and while it is so nice to celebrate with our loved ones, Thanksgiving can be particularly tough for those of us with digestive issues, food allergies or if we're actively going through an elimination diet like the Low FODMAP Diet. So here's a few strategies I employ to not only make it through unscathed but to also enjoy myself.
We're going to my in-laws this year and I let it be known that I do not want anyone to make anything special for me and there's a few different reasons for this.
✨️I completely understand the urge to want to feed someone, that it my love language after all, BUT I have cut so many things out of my diet that are seemingly innocuous to other people that it is difficult to accurately convey my dietary specifications mostly because it is so routine for me now that I don't even think much about it anymore. So in the past when I have tried this, something always gets missed and it's not even the other person's fault, I forget something, but then I feel obligated to eat it and I end up having a food reaction anyway.
✨️ Second, and possibly more importantly, it doesn't sit right with me to come in and change an entire menu for one person, especially when that menu is part of a tradition and evokes nostalgia.
✨️ Also, as someone who does cook, I think about how I would feel if I wanted to make a nice meal for someone but I couldn't use the ingredients that I rely on to make my cooking tasty. I would be really stressed out. Cooking for a crowd is stressful enough, I don't want to add to it.
So with all that said, this year I have volunteered to make stuffing, which has been my Thanksgiving favorite for the past few years since I developed my own recipe. I plan on making a double batch so I can eat a large helping and there will still be plenty. I also like that it can be considered a full meal since it contains protein, fat and carbs. If I didn't want such a carb heavy meal, I would probably roast my own turkey breast at home with some veggies and bring that. This is also a great option if you're not aiming to feed a crowd.

WEBSITE IS BACK UP
Guys, I sincerely apologize that it took me so long to get my website back up, but to be fair… I was supposed to be on maternity leave. lol
What had happened was… my domain was set to auto-renew but the card I had on file with squarespace had expired, and all this went down while I was in the hospital after having an emergency c-section with my first child that came a month early! And to top it all off, by the time I had figured out my website was down, SOMEONE ELSE STOLE MY DOMAIN.🤬
That’s right - I’m no longer at gritandgroceries.com. My website is now located at gritandgroceries.net (Ugh… just doesn’t have the same ring to it😒)
I changed out the links on all of my videos and instagram posts, so it should be much easier for you guys to get to my website and find my recipes.
Thank you guys so much for your patience.
Lastly, I just wanted to say that Baby J is doing well and after 4 months I am feeling more settled into mom life but still trying to figure out exactly how I’m going to get everything done, and hopefully, I will have some fresh content for you guys soon.🤞🏻🤞🏻
