Kludges from Kevin's Cave

Kevin takes an eccentric and brutally primitive approach to electronics, and breadboards various circuits to demonstrate how they work.

Since several people have asked, I'm a semi-retired enginerd, not a professor. I have an A.B. in math from Dartmouth, a MSEE from Arizona State, and a PhD in computer science from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I have 40+ years in industry, working for such outfits as Honeywell, Northrop(-Grumman) and GE Aerospace. Most of my paid projects for the last couple of decades have been related to machine vision, in areas as diverse as medical imaging, TV broadcasting, and inspection of aircraft engine parts. They all seem to involve a little bit of electronics, a little bit of optics, and a lot of math-intensive computer software.

Sorry, video isn't ready for this week. Lots of stuff going on in real life, and the next video's a long one.

Running slightly late today - my ISP has decided to be slow on the upload. Video will drop as soon as the upload and checks finish.

Kludges from Kevin's Cave

No video again this week. I'm going to an every-two-weeks schedule. A weekly video just isn't sustainable at the moment. (Expect the next one at the usual time, April 18 at 5 p.m. US/Eastern, 2100 UTC)

Kludges from Kevin's Cave

Sorry, no video this week. I've just been too preoccupied with paid work to finish editing it. I may need to go to a two-week release cadence for a while, until things settle a bit.

Next week, I promise to have the next video in the oscilloscope series! (The usual time, April 4 at 5 pm US/Eastern; 23:00 UTC)

Apologies to all! Something went wrong with uploading part 3 of the I-V tracer series. (I took the bad copy private, and I'll be re-uploading in the next few hours. Thanks for everyone's patience!

Tomorrow at 5pm US/Eastern (21:00 UTC), a video on the op-amp integrator, one of the most fundamental of op-amp circuits. (The following video will return to our discussion of transistor biasing, this time for the common-emitter amplifier.)

Have a great weekend!
