I think I understand why I like Solo Leveling 99% and not the full 100%. It’s hard for me to associate myself with the protagonist. He became overpowered way too fast. Over time, you stop worrying about him because you know he’ll always win anyway. He’s a Mary Sue, just wrapped in a very flashy package.

It’s exactly this flashiness, the cool factor, and the plot mystery—how he became a player—that keep you engaged in watching (or reading) further. But in terms of emotional attachment to the character, as if he were yourself, this story doesn’t work at 100%.
