A Game Designer's job is to create a particular emotional response in players at a particular time.
Great games are that way because the player's emotional journey is carefully curated, and the player never feels overwhelmed.
Another GREAT way to "manage" player emotions is with a Beat Chart! It's at the core of Level Design in the Gamer2Maker method.
What's the strongest emotion you recently felt while playing a game... and which game was it?

You need to understand this stuff before you get into the Game Industry.
Never mess around with an NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement), as it can have severe consequences. That means you may not be able to talk about the game you're working on with your family, friends, or ANYONE.
This is because information or images (GTA 6, anyone??) reaching the press or social media can be very damaging to the studio or company.
Read the agreement very carefully, as there may be several clauses that you need to negotiate, particularly the non-compete clause and the notice period.
And oh, by the way, it is NOT a good idea to sign a bond. Ever.
Got any questions or comments about agreements? Comment!!

Have you ever bought a game because of a character? Or ever become super emotional while playing a game?
Chances are that it was because of something that happened to your player character or some other character that you cared about.
Story and narrative are mostly told through game characters. BUT it's not easy to create such compelling characters; it's a complex yet amazing process that takes some time... and when you see the characters that were in your mind enter the game world, that is an amazing feeling. ๐
One of the most important parts of a game character is the LOOK, and these are the steps that are usually followed in making an awesome game character.
At Gamer2Maker, we teach all these skills and how to conceptualize characters as well. If you haven't checked out the new courses that we have announced, be sure to have a look.

This one can be a bit tricky but it's an important distinction that a game designer should know about.
Another example would be a 2D side-scrolling game will have a SIDE-SCROLLING perspective and 2D dimensionality.
Still have doubts? Mention them below and discuss.

Designing game levels is a bit like playing chess with the player!
As a level designer, you always need to be a few steps ahead and anticipate what the player will (and will not) do next.
The idea is for the player to go through a range of emotional states without being overwhelmed, bored, or too frustrated.
As a level designer, your job is to:
โ Provide an appropriate physical environment to play the game.
โ Teach the player the skills needed and give an opportunity to use them.
โ Assist in the storytelling by providing a visual and social environment.
โ Provide a richer experience and replay ability.
โ Guide the player through the game without making it obvious.
Of all the different disciplines in Game Design, Level Design is my favourite... I started my career as a Level Designer and it was an amazing experience.
In Gamer2maker, we go to great lengths to teach all that I have learnt about this fascinating field of Game Design.

NOT having a budget for your project can be a FATAL mistake.
This can be boring, we get it. We used to think the same way, and then had to change our thinking as we realized it would lead to gamedev disaster.
"Arghhh, I hate doing this stuff. I'm just going to start working on building my game!"
Is that you? Well, then you don't really know how much time, effort (and possibly money) it will take to build your game.
You will ALWAYS underestimate the time and effort needed to build a game (it's the same for everyone) and actually making a budget is a GREAT way to get a REALITY CHECK.
This way you can be prepared for the project, and have a MUCH BETTER chance of completing it and making it a success.
Have you ever made a budget for your game? How did it go?
