The most fundamental error is not recognising the fundamental difference between knower, the subject and known, the object. The knower is the conscious being. The known is object of the knower, the conscious being and it is jada because it does not illumine itself. The subject can never be the object.
There is only one unchanging, independent, consciousness-existence in the entire universe that shines in every antahkarana as 'I am'.
Everything else (including one's body and mind) is a temporary object of this consciousness-existence, non-seperate from it and of a different order of reality.

When we connect to Ishvara in prayer, we need to consciously know and remember who is Ishvara...then that connection is potent and complete.
Ishvara is consciousness that is Omniscient and Omnipotent with reference to the Universe - the Omniscience and Omnipotence of Ishvara is omnipresent in the universe. Omnipresence means all-pervading. So Ishvara is the all-knowing, all-powerful consciousness that is the very fabric of all of existence, in every aspect of existence. So there is nothing that is impossible for Ishvara. And such an Ishvara is also suhrd, the one who is ever the well-wisher of the individual (the Jiva).
Thus when we connect in prayer to Ishvara, we are connecting to the omniscient, omnipotent, conscious fabric of existence for whom nothing is impossible, who is ever our well-wisher, who is ever capable of being the source of our strength, resilience, and creativity to face the seeming tough challenges of our life. With the knowledge that Ishvara is ever our source to whom we can tap into at any time....we become strong, courageous, resilient. Ishvara is our friend and ultimate healer. All we need is to learn how to receive. And we receive when we learn to let go our resistance and trust in Ishvara.
That in whose
Conscious
changeless
ever-presence,
absence of vrittis
presence of vrittis
presence of external objects
is illumined
and lent
seeming reality and known-ness
is the Infinite Self.
Recognize it and be free.
An amazing Yogi jnani I know, gives a simple method ...to gently unwaveringly observe the rise and fall of vrittis, in the screen of the space between the eyebrows....without reacting to anything that arises. Initially the vrittis bubble up, with a life of their own. You just remain as an uninvolved witness. As you continue with this pure observation, the vrittis subside for a while, then they again arise ...sometimes as a storm dragging you along! Continue with just being an uninvolved witness ...day after day resorting to this practice ...over a period of time, the vrittis-storms don't arise anymore ..you remain in appreciation of the Infinite Self as the Infinite Self ...not a concept only anymore.
Prerequisite is viveka, vairagya, shamadi-shatka sampattih.
