Made it into the Blender Showcase Reel. How about that! I remember watching Last Year's Showcase Reel and thinking--wow. How do you end up in this video? How talented are these people? I will never be this good....ever!
And then out of nowhere i get dm'ed by the CEO of Blender himself asking if featuring the Deer Render would be all right? Allright? Hahaha...I'm here thinking--I'm done. I have achieved everything i ever wanted to achieve. What an absolute improbable bucket-list ambition--come true. Huge Shoutout to the Blender Foundation for making my year.
Youtube has been a Lil weird lately, for me. It doesn't seem to care about niche topics like blender tutorials anymore and just pushes mainstream concepts like challenges and extreme experiments a lot lately--at least in my feed.
And I'm not really a tutorialist. I suck at making tutorials. I personally hate making them too tbh. I'm not a shader expert or geo node expert. I know the basics. Maybe. But that's it. But there's one thing I do know. Or atleast can pretend to know coz I like it too much.
That's storytelling and filmmaking.
All I care about anymore is -- how do I become a proper, professional filmmaker.
Ever since I watched Flow win the Oscar, I've been in this headspace of not wanting to do anything else with blender but just make short films and tell longer stories. Nothing else.
So for the past few months I've been looking for a format that pushes me in that direction but also kinda works on a platform like youtube. So I can be an algo sell out but with a Lil bit of soul.
And I think I finally found something.
The first video (with that in mind) of a new series I've been working on for a while releases tomorrow.
