Hi everyone :) I wanted to come on quickly and give you a little update on what I’ve been up to and in regards to the future of this channel.
I’m sure you’ve noticed over the past year or so that I’ve been far less consistent with posting on here. Unfortunately, creating YouTube videos is just no longer as fulfilling or fun for me as it used to be. I’ve tried this year to sort out a filming and positing schedule that works for me, and while I do enjoy the creative process, the entire start to finish of managing and maintaining a channel is just not something I enjoy or necessarily have the space for anymore.
I started this channel when I was in university, and it was my favourite thing ever. I had so much fun creating content, and the best part was interacting with all of you and having a community to share my favourite thing with. This beautiful community you have all allowed me to be a part of is honestly the only reason why I still try to post on here, even though I’m inconsistent. You guys offered me a space where I felt like I could chat about hair care and beauty things with a bunch of other people who love it as much as I do, and I’ve learned so many things from you.
I’m now almost 28 years old, I currently work a full time day job that I absolutely adore and find extremely rewarding and fulfilling, and I’m about to enter a new phase of my life. I don’t share many details of my personal life online, but as I’m growing and settling into a life I have dreamed of, I’m just finding myself wanting to be online less and less. On my days off/after work, I find myself channelling my energy more into other creative outlets, spending time with my loved ones, and being outside.
Last fall I had a bit of a mental health crisis. My anxiety was the worst it has ever been in my life and it took a massive toll on my ability to function day to day. It forced me to seek help and that has been my main focus since September. I honestly just didn’t have the brain power or energy to be consistent with content, and the last thing I want this channel to turn into is something that I feel required to do. I think that energy comes across very clearly on screen, and you guys deserve better than that.
I’m not saying that I will never post here again, because I do still enjoy creating content. However, I will be taking a bit of a break and when I do post, I want you to know that it’s because I felt inspired to create or share something. In the meantime, I’m looking forward to being more active on Instagram. Short form content is much more manageable for me to create and I really want to share more of my wash day vlog type videos in reel form. Hair care is still my main squeeze, so I will still be sharing growth challenges, my routines, my progress, etc.
I also really want to explore other types of content, mainly clothing and styling content, and maybe a bit more of my day to day. I still want to engage with this community and be a part of it, I just want to do it in a way that feels genuine. I so deeply appreciate all of you for your love and support over the years, and I hope to see you all on ig! Thank you guys all for understanding, and for making this little corner of the internet so much fun and so positive. I am extremely grateful for my time on this platform and for all of the opportunities I’ve had because of you guys and your support. This channel wouldn’t even exist if it weren’t for all of you, so thank you thank you thank you.
If you don’t already follow me there, you can find me on ig @organicallyanna ! feel free to also let me know what you’d like to see on there.
Hi guys! Just a heads up that there’s a fake account pretending to be me choosing winners for fake giveaways. Please do not give anyone ANY information! If you’re unsure, please ask me. I normally host giveaways on Instagram, and if I did host one here I would mention it specifically in a YouTube video. I’m sorry that this is happening! Unfortunately people are scammers so just be aware and again, do not share any personal info with anyone :)
Hey! I want to make more hair style videos so I can show you guys how I style my shorter hair. Would you prefer multiple hairstyles in 1 video, or 1 hairstyle per video?
Thank you guys so so much for 100k! I can't express how grateful I am for each and every one of you. Thank you for always being so incredibly supportive and understanding, and for making youtube so much fun. I have been blessed with so many opportunities that I would have never had without you guys, and I hope you know I recognize those of you who have been here since the beginning, those of you who always leave comments, and those of you who are new here. I appreciate all of you so much more than you know, and I can't wait to see what the future holds for this channel. I hope I can continue to create content that you guys all enjoy, and I hope that my videos can be a chill place for you to hangout and enjoy some self care in your busy day or week. I started this channel to talk about hair care and share hair tips, however, it has become so much more than that for me. Thank you for providing me with a place to grow and be myself, and to share something that I love with all of you. You have all taught me so much about myself and the rest of the world, and you inspire me to be creative and continue to be myself. Again, thank you for continued love and support, and here's to the amazing community we have ♡
Hi lovelies!! The scalp oil treatment for this month of the winter growth challenge consists of pumpkin seed oil, castor oil, and peppermint oil. Pumpkin seed oil has so many benefits for hair growth, and it contains omega 3s, essential fatty acids, and vitamin k. Castor oil and peppermint essential oil are both great for stimulating the scalp and promoting hair growth. I used about a tablespoon of the pumpkin and castor oils and about 5 drops of peppermint oil. I also added a bit of avocado oil to dilute the mixture a little more, and I just really like how avocado oil makes my hair feel lol. Feel free to sub the pumpkin seed oil with another oil of your choice! I applied this all over my scalp and massaged it in using my little scalp massager from Kerotin. I also applied any excess oil to my ends and length as a regular oil treatment. Would you like to see a video on this treatment? Let me know!
Hi guys! Today I’m sharing two scalp tonics for hair growth for the #wintergrowthchallenge 🖤 We had a lot of questions about rosemary during our live last week so I wanted to include it in the first tonic. All you need is: -aloe vera gel: I’m using gel directly from an aloe leaf, but you can purchase the gel or juice separately at a store. Aloe gel is really soothing and hydrating for the scalp, and it’s also really light weight. -rosemary essential oil: rosemary is very stimulating and helps to promote hair growth, and it also helps to boost shine and promote scalp health. -carrier oil of your choice: I like to use jojoba oil because it’s really light weight and it’s similar to the natural sebum our scalps produce. Any carrier oil is fine, but it’s necessary in order to dilute the rosemary essential oil in the mixture. I add a few tablespoons of aloe gel or juice to a bowl, and then I add 1 tablespoon of jojoba oil and about 5-10 drops of rosemary essential oil. You don’t need much because it doesn’t take a lot to coat the scalp. Be sure to do a patch test on your wrist before using essential oils on your scalp! They are very potent and can cause skin irritation if used incorrectly. If you have sensitive skin, use more carrier oil to further dilute the essential oil. I apply this all over my scalp and take some time to massage it in. Then I leave it for about 1 hour before washing it out as normal. I love using aloe on my scalp in the winter because it’s so soothing to the skin, and it also makes the roots of my hair feel so soft. An alternative to this tonic is to use a rosemary tea rinse! I have a video about it on my YouTube channel if you’d like to go that route 🖤 @hairbyolivemarri will also be sharing a scalp tonic, so stay tuned!
I also cut about 4 inches of hair off lolol, so this is officially my “starting length” for the growth challenge. It measures 35 inches from the front of my head down to the longest part. Measuring isn’t always completely accurate, so for reference, my hair sits at my bellybutton now and it’s a few inches above my tailbone in the back!
