I've become a huge fan of the Polish skin care brands. Tołpa is for all my facial creams and shampoos. Today I found the Ziaja goat milk hand cream and its legit insanely good.
The price quality of Polish skincare is a hidden secret nobody seems to talk about. In stores I notice everyone here buying the western brands at triple the price but with the same or even worse ingredients.
Tołpa has a patent on peat apparently which is a tested ingredient and comes from the Polish bogs. Its entire line of products is interesting and innovative. The rosacal is something the French would pay ungodly amounts for if they knew it existed.
Whereas the Netherlands has next to zero of its own brands in skincare, Poland is doing absolutely crazy work and has thousands of fantastic products. I don't know how I can go back to living without, if ever.
Tonight I tried Beef and Pepper Steak house for the third time. The lamb rump has a price of 159 zł. While the place is always decent, it could improve details, such as heated plates or a heated espresso cup, which they don't do. Same for seating, you always get seated at the small and cramped spots, despite there's a lot of empty tables.
Whilst the steaks are quite upscale and service is attentive, it still misses the mark for the price paid, and I'll keep finding other steakhouses. I'm open to suggestions. Still I do repeat the place a few times a year as most other places miss out on the finer details as well, so it doesn't spoil a night out on the town. So far the one place that truly lives up to fine details and its price has been Soul Kitchen.
Got back late last night from Berlin. Let's just say the Berlin Warszawa Express isn't really express and flying would work faster, still, until the route becomes more stable.
For a nice breakfast this early morning I went to my favourite Lab Specialty Coffee but apparently their kitchen is closed on Monday. So I chose Corner Coffee for French toast. It was okay but average and the place should work on cleanliness big time, so no repeat.
I then went to Raven which is at Centrum and this is finally a solid place with decent interior of not the cheapest kind. Good coffee and atmosphere to actually relax. The place wouldn't look out of place in Central London and the food looked truly well prepared.
Prices are the same as anywhere else, all the more reason to be more selective where you have breakfast and coffee. Places that focus on the details are very rare. This is one of them, for now. Bonus is the free water for pouring a glass.
I'll give you two fantastic bars as a tip for Berlin. One smoke-free with a great and comfy interior: Segunda Casa - Kneipe. Bar. Wohnzimmer. One where smoking is allowed, a real old-style but neat pub: Rothenburg Eck in Edis. Both are fantastic.
In 2026, the age of everything being slop, delayed and AI generated, I am greatly surprised by the PKP helpdesk replying in 10 minutes, on a holiday evening and in perfect English. I didn't expect to get a prompt reply to a query about an international journey. And they know exactly what's going on.

If anyone's ever in Berlin and looks for the best Currywurst, as far as I've had, try Zur Bratpfanne, Schloßstraße. One of the truly local places.
