I've been on a quest to quietly upgrade my lifestyle with quality products. So I wanted focus on Polish made brands and upgraded all my bedding and towels. The chilling couch got a good upgrade as well. I never do sponsored content so any brand you see is what I paid myself and liked.
All this was easily bought on Alegro. Use keywords like horeca or hotel bedding for these materials. The cotton is 100% and it's proven hotel bedding as it can be washed at 95 degrees. A bedding set is about 95 zł and five towels cost about 100. All fantastic stuff and a silent improvement of quality of life. If anyone knows more Polish quality stuff I should look into, let me know.
I did try local small stores for similar bedding products but the prices were double or triple there and probably similar or inferior brands, so I was happy with the Alegro choice.
Takesan Ramen has won my award for best ramen in Warsaw so far. Not only does it come with condiments and refills of filtered tap water for free, a must for ramen restaurants but uncommon in Poland, it also seems to have a Japanese chef (?)
Besides from August they'll have draft Japanese Kirin beer. If it's also in a frozen glass the whole experience is 99% like I've had in Japan. The ice cream for 18 zł however was disappointing as it doesn't seem homemade and actual homemade matcha ice cream would have completed the picture. But that's not the most important. The noodles this time were also very tasty and seem at least not prefabricated. Prices for ramen are slightly higher than in other places but definitely worth it, and likely still way cheaper than in Amsterdam. The staff was very kind and I'll definitely come back many times.
I went to UKI UKI for ramen and it was pretty good, I think about the best I've found in Poland now. No Japanese chefs but the owner seems to be. It explains the face towel and glass of water, which are non-negotiable in a real Japanese restaurant. The service was quick and friendly. Next time I'll try their udon noodles which are the homemade speciality. They also serve the cold udon noodles just like they do in Japan. The only thing missing is Japanese draft beer in a frozen glass but it's unlikely I'll find that.

I've noticed a habit I took from the Balkans is sitting in restaurants for hours. Three hours for a full meal with a few drinks and dessert is very standard for me and can happen any day of the week. If I bring Polish friends they become visibly impatient sometimes and want to get up after an hour maximum. It's one of the main cultural differences I've seen. Although it's slightly a Dutch thing as well, as we like to chit chat forever. But it only happens after the work for the day is done.
One of the things I miss most in Warsaw is a true old world style pub. Maybe I haven't found it yet but I'm not sure the equal of this exists. Of course it's a modern city, but anything that comes close will really scratch my itch of missing old Dutch cafes.
This is Vana Villem pub in Tallinn, one of the most beautiful pubs I've been, and I've seen a few. The Irish pubs in Warsaw don't really cut it either unfortunately and are lacking in atmosphere. If not an old style pub, perhaps anyone has recommendations for pubs with comfortable seating?
It's been a long time since I've been in Tallinn, the last time was on my 18th birthday. Lots of memories here and finally back, it's just easier to reach from Warsaw. Despite that there was a nearly 4 hour delay of yesterday's flight. Today was fun and I recommend the following places for a grand time.
Bekker Pagariäri for breakfast SÕLE GRILL for meats DVIN Georgian food Tuletorn Brewing for a chill beer Stroomi rand beach
While it may not look very appetizing this Chinese meal I've had at QiGeBao near Warsaw Zwirky i Wigury was highly authentic. Excellent noodles with spicy meat and a great side dish of spicy cucumber. Pricing is decent and they have some more attractive looking wide noodles as well. Would go again.
After a beach day I went to Haochi 六号烧烤 again for the skewers. I was given a warm welcome and recognized by the kind staff. It was a little busy, locals and Chinese visit because of the excellent food. There's a ton of side dishes and full meal sets too so I will try those next time. The skewers pictured are several types of meat and prawns and are about 45 zł total. Easily a full meal with some kimchi and seaweed salad which I got as sides.
