🚨 Peacemaker Season 2 is here! 🚨
Episode 1 “The Ties That Bind” premieres tonight at 9 PM ET on Max. 🍿
Rotten Tomatoes is already flashing a 98% score for the new season… but you know how I feel about trusting Rotten. 😏 Still, I really enjoyed season 1, so I’m definitely looking forward to what’s next.
⚠️ One thing’s for sure—this show is definitely NOT for kids.
Are you tuning in tonight? 👀

🎬 Movie Talk:
Some sequels don’t just match the original — they outshine it. 💥
Think Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, or Top Gun: Maverick.
Was it bigger budgets? Better scripts? Or just lightning in a bottle?
💭 Which sequel do YOU think beat the original?

🍅 Is Rotten Tomatoes Still Credible? And What’s Up With the Popcorn Meter? 🍿
Ever wonder why so many people say Rotten Tomatoes isn’t reliable anymore?
It’s not just online noise — there are legit reasons:
✅ Oversimplified scores: They boil complex reviews into a simple “fresh or rotten.” That means a movie could have a 90% score just because 9 out of 10 critics thought it was slightly above average, not that it’s a masterpiece.
✅ Audience scores can be messy: They’re often review-bombed (by people who didn’t even see the movie) or inflated by fan campaigns.
✅ Corporate influence worries: Since RT is owned by Fandango (yes, the ticket company), some fans worry there’s a bias to keep big studio movies looking good.
✅ Not your taste: At the end of the day, even a “certified fresh” movie might be boring to you.
🎯 And about the Popcorn Meter:
That’s basically just branding for the Audience Score. The popcorn bucket is a fun icon to show what regular viewers think. Full popcorn? Mostly positive. Spilled popcorn? Mostly negative. Rotten Tomatoes leaned into this playful style to keep it visually separate from the critic’s Tomatometer (the red/green tomato).
👉 Bottom line:
Rotten Tomatoes is still useful for a quick vibe check. But if you want to really know if you’ll like a movie, dive into full reviews or — better yet — just watch it yourself.

🎬 Whatever Happened to the Big Summer Blockbuster?
Remember when summers belonged to the movies?
Back in the day, you’d be lining up outside the theater with your friends, popcorn in hand, waiting for that ONE huge film everyone was talking about. Whether it was Jurassic Park, The Dark Knight, Independence Day, or the first Avengers — summer blockbusters used to be an event.
So… where did that go?
These days it feels like we don’t really have that big, unmissable summer movie. Sure, there are sequels and superhero flicks, but not many that truly bring everybody together.
👉 Why were summer blockbusters so important?
• They gave us a shared cultural moment. Monday at work or school was all about “Did you see it yet?!”
• They kept theaters alive. Big crowds for blockbusters often meant smaller films got discovered too.
• And let’s be honest: they were just FUN. Loud, thrilling, best enjoyed with a crowd.
But now?
• Audiences are kinda burned out on franchises.
• Studios are playing it safe or sending big movies straight to streaming.
• And honestly, we all got a bit out of the habit during lockdowns.
🔥 Still — people WANT that magic again. Just look at Top Gun: Maverick or Barbie recently. When the right movie hits, it proves the summer blockbuster isn’t dead — it’s just waiting for the next big thing.
⸻
💭 What do you think? Are the days of the true summer blockbuster over, or are we just in a weird lull? Drop your thoughts below — I love reading your takes.

🍿 Is Nostalgia Carrying the Movie Industry?
Let’s be real—how many reboots, sequels, and “legacy” characters have we seen in the past few years? Some hit hard (Top Gun: Maverick I’m lookin’ at you 👏), while others just ride the wave without heart.
Are studios playing it safe… or are we all just suckers for that childhood callback?
I’ve got thoughts, and I’m breaking it all down in a upcoming week’s video.
